I think so! - They are *really* alert.... They are a hunter that is not that far removed from the dogs that still run wild in Africa.
I have seen them do really well in Agility.
They have a really funny expression where they actually wrinkle their brow at you, like "Huh?"

"Excuse me, Dr. Safavi, it's 2003. 10 million Basijis isn't very much anymore."
"Very well then.....we will use.....10 BEEEEEEEEEELLLLIIIOON Basijis to defend Iran!!"

My neighbors claim that their Basenji is really fast and a good fighter, but they cannot let him off the leash to prove it because he would run and run and never come back. Also they claim he could possibly kill my little Schnauzer (who never hesitates to show how he feels about their dog). The Basenji seems fairly obedient and smart.

Oh, Basijis not Basenjis; I was gonna say, that is a lot of dogs.
I say send the Basenjis to Iraq, put one in every home.

I'm hearing mixed results on the Basenji. I had a lot of luck with the Miniature Pinscher, but I'd have to select the puppy carefully. I really miss my little Thor. That dog and I had a very good relationship.
