Any Ronnie Hawkins fans out there? Is he a Canadian legend, or does his legendary status cross international boundaries? I've never heard of the guy.

Ronnie Hawkins is actually not a Canadian, unless he became a naturlized Canadian. He was born in Arkansas and had a few modest hits in Canada, mostly doing covers of US songs.

His biggest claim to fame though was actually his back up 'Band' known as the 'Hawks'.

This Band bcome a bit more famous after leaving Ronnie Hawkins, to back up Bob Dylan. They then changed their name to 'The Band'.

I take that back. There may have been a year ot two gap from leaving Hawkns before they hooked up with Dylan.

No. Two different guys. Ronnie Hawkins is white.

Screaming Jay Hawkins is best known for: the song "I put a Spell on You", his elaborate shows, which featured flames and coffins and such and for the rumor that he has fathered over three hundred children, during his long career and constant touring. In fact there was a lawsuit filed recently (2-3 years ago?) regarding this by one of his progeny.
