a hero in Arab countries, a poster child for peace.

It kind of fits --- with the way she went, they can use her literally to be the poster.

I saw the graduation ceremony of Rachel's class at EverRed college on tv....grads wore those black-white checked Arab scarves over their caps and gowns, and Rachel's mother wore a black-white checked dress while giving some address at commencement. What's wrong with this picture? Where was the American flag?

Rachel was exposed as an all-out anarchist. Her parents, who look like average middle-class people, are now taking up her anarchist battle? Expect to see them on the streets of Seattle soon throwing bricks through Starbuck's windows for Peace. Come to think of it, isn't Starbuck's owned by a Jewish fellow? (Schultz? Schwartz?) Is that why the anarchists target them all the time?

You don't have to excerpt articles from this source. Only LA Times/ Washington Post sources, a list of which can be found on the FR main page.

Articles from all other news sources should be posted in full.

Funny how you don't hear much about human shields anymore. They were a great source of entertainment. Maybe we can find some protestors to drive Hamas leaders around.

I don't remotely mean to be unkind.

But if one of my three daughters deliberately decided to lie down in the path of a bulldozer, didn't move when it was obvious the bulldozer wasn't stopping, and got run over, I'd grieve like any parent.

And I would at least scratch my head and wonder where I had gone wrong in her education.

So... the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. Notice the flattering picture of Rachel? Quite a contrast with the images of her face contorted with hatred when she was in Gaza.

The headline of this article ticks me off.

This girl wasn't "slain". She committed suicide.

Craig Corrie had been a reluctant Vietnam War hero. His many medals, including a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, were long ago hidden in a plastic grocery bag in his mother's basement in Des Moines, Iowa. When he returned from war to Des Moines in 1971, he told the Army not to notify the local news media about his medals.

This is what the 60's liberals have done to our Vietnam Vets, reduced many to feeling ashamed of serving their country when it called them to do so. Regardless of whether or not we should have been over there, to NOT support our troops is extremely demoralizing. God bless this man for serving his country.

What a shame for his children that he couldn't accept his well deserved medals and teach them the value and honor of serving our country, respecting our flag, and pride at pledging allegiance to our great nation.

He'd have a daughter today if he had.

She was supporting terrorists, hated America, hated Israel, did not listen to Israeli authorities and died because of her stupidity. If her parents want to take up the cause, they must remember that they are picking up the same cause terrorists are using and the cause which has been responsible for over a 1000 innocent Israelis. Furthermore, they talk about how there is mock American casket there. Don't they understand these people burn American flags on a daily basis? These terrorists are using her death for propaganda purposes.

Craig Corrie, 56, was a cavalry sergeant responsible for clearing trees and bamboo for Army bases in Cambodia. His soldiers used military bulldozers similar to the U.S.-made Caterpillar involved in Rachel's death.

Ironic.

...said Phan Nguyen, a friend from the International Solidarity Movement. "She wouldn't have wanted to become like that. ... She would've been like, 'Why am I getting all of this attention and the Palestinians don't?

Really, Phan? Is that really what she would've been like? Are you sure she wouldn't have been like something else?

The deeper issue here is something that I call "the alienation of altruism" which is endemic to modern western cultures. In any culture, considerable social status is given to members who sacrifice their own well-being for the sake of "the tribe". This behavior has obvious beneficial effects for the culture in question as it encourages the best and brightest to perform heroic acts to insure in-group survival in a harsh and competitive world.

Notice that Rachel did not go to Eastern Europe to help the recently freed peoples there to build their nations. She didn't go to Appalachia to help impoverished Southerners. She didn't go to Zimbabwe to rescue white farmers who are victims of a pogrom at the hands of Mugabe.

She went to Gaza. She went to help a non-Western people fight a tribal war...losing her life in the process.

For several decades now, Western civilization has been in the grips of intense self-doubt and self-hatred (which have given rise to political correctness, multi-culturalism, etc). One of the manifestations of this behavior is that altruistic efforts only receive social status when they are performed for out-group, non-Western recipients (hence the messiah complex that american white liberals have towards blacks). As someone who is proud of my Western culture and heritage, I find this behavior to be incomprehensible and somewhat repugnant.
