I think it is much more likely that the White House has weighed the blasting they are taking from the right and decided they needed to tip the scales back a little in the other direction. There is no secret agreement between Sharon and Bush. Bush hates Sharon. It seems to me that this is an attempt by the Bush apologists to explain away the administration's failure when it comes to supporting our most important ally in the middle east. I agree, except I really doubt Bush hates Sharon.

I disagree. If we understand that Hamas will stop at nothing to torpedo this, then Hamas must be destroyed.

...and don't forget that these raghead disquise themselves such as dressing up in Israeli Soldier Uniforms or as Hassid's to get on that bus without many turned heads. Don't remember many Israeli's doing that but more important, NOBODY CITES THESE EXAMPLES OF HOW THE RAGHEADS JUST WANT ANY AND EVERY JEW DEAD AND THEY ATTACK CIVILIANS WHILE ISRAEL "TARGETS" MILITANT SCUMBAGS!! WHERE IS BUSH AND POWELL ON THIS PART OF THE PUZZLE. EMPTYNESS AND NOTHING ON IT. THAT'S WHERE!!

I disagree. If we understand that Hamas will stop at nothing to torpedo this, then Hamas must be destroyed. On that we agree. I just don't think the US and Israel have anticipated/planned any joint response to Hamas' terrorist activities. I think far too much is attributed to conspiracies or master plans; a much simpler explanation is that it looks like changing tactics because we lack an overall strategy.

a much simpler explanation is that it looks like changing tactics because we lack an overall strategy. A publicly clear, concise, sequential strategy is unfortunately very predictable.
Better to let your opponent waste at least some resources trying to figure out what the hell is going. Not to mention possibly causing a moment of hesitation here and there...
To me it seems more like a game of chess. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) most of us don't get to see the whole board or even all of the pieces.

Hamas militant, his wife and 3-year-old daughter...What man would take his wife and baby openly into a war zone, especially when he has a bullseye on his back? --Maybe a coward who is willing to have his family maimed and slaughtered for the PR value.

Annihilate hamas! Annihilate fatah! Kill Arafat! Build a mined and fortified wall between the west bank arab squaters and Israel. Make gaza a parking lot! Shoot any arab with a gun or weapon that attempts to enter Jerusalem. Blow up any arab caught with explosives with their their own bomb belts. Than give peace a chance after 40 years have passed and the existing hate filled arab generation is dust.

...there is a secret agreement between Sharon and Bush to give Sharon a free hand to wipe out Hamas' leadership and tactical terrorist capability. First, Hamas. Then, the elimination of Arafat by taking down the Al Aqsa Martyr's Brigades, Arafat's personal terrorist bodyguard unit. This can't be true. I've been told by many here at FR that Bush and Sharon are Hamas appeasers.
Adios Hamas!

Let me see if I am understanding you somewhere near correctly. The roadmap is strictly for public consumption. The real strategy that is being implemented is divide and conquor.
Am I close?
