Dansy, I've been privileged to get to read it a chapter or two at a time via FR mail, and it is full of intrigue and romance and several unexpected twists.

That was apparent to me even with just a few "teaser" paragraphs. He'll just have to bring us *more* to whet our appetites!

Thank you for the compliment. I wish I had more time to paint. You know, that work thing....

I think I come by it naturally - several people in my family are very artistically talented.

Beautiful photo ((((((DD))))))) even if you did "borrow" it! LOL!

I've heard there are some wonderful lighthouses up on the Pacific northwest.

...here's a pic of the Master Lighthouse...and, no passive beacon, He...I hear tell He's heavy into search and rescue, too...and that standing next to Him, you can see Forever.

And we must never lose sight of that (((((((jwfiv))))))). Thank you for those lovely words of inspiration. The Lord is the Master Lightkeeper!

Several lighthouses have had to be moved over the course of their lives due to shore erosion. It's amazing what can be accomplished when there's a will and a need! :-)

Beautiful photo of a Great Lakes lighthouse. Have you ever heard of the one at Presque Isle? It's supposed to be haunted - it has been documented to light up even though there is no power or fuel source!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I'm glad I scanned it before I gave it away.

Have you ever seen that photograph of the lighthouse that is completely surrounded by water and the waves are crashing all around? It looks like that lighthouse couldn't survive such waves and the waves are about as tall as the lighthouse itself. I think it's in France. I know, France ptooie, but it's a cool photo. I couldn't imagine being the keeper with surf like that crashing all around.

Fire Island Lighthouse

This is a lighthouse that used to be on the southwestern tip of Fire Island, but now, because the sand keeps shifting southwest, it is nowhere near the tip.

Fire Island supposedly got its name because people used to build huge bonfires on the shore, northeast of the lighthouse, to make ships think it was the lighthouse. Then the ships would try to make a right into the inlet and end up destroyed in the surf--with all the valuables on board washing to shore.

Many are the hikes we took to this lighthouse. That was before people realized that they could sunbathe nude on the public beaches that lie between the private communities and the lighthouse. You'd have to be crazy to let your kids hike down there now.

Thomas Kincade did a painting of Split Rock Lighthouse. It hangs in our bedroom.

I have. I didn't realize it was in France. It's amazing what some of these lighthouses have endured successfully!

What a shame. It truly lends meaning to the words "Things just aren't like they used to be in the old days."

Thank you for the history lesson and lovely photo (((((firebrand))))

G'Morning, dansy!

I am enjoying your post today on lighthouses as well as all the pictures being posted. There is something romantic about them, isn't there?

JK and I saw this pretty lighthouse during our ferry tour of Sydney Harbor last week. He took several photographs of it, but I haven't seen them yet, so I am posting this one that I found on google. I had no idea what the name of it was, but did a search for Sydney Harbor lighthouses and recognized it when I found it.......Hornby Lighthouse, New South Wales.

Good morning, sistahs and friends....wishing you and all of our Finest visitors a good day.

(Gail, sorry to hear about your fall. You take care now.)
