Hello folks. I've just picked up a KJV Holy Bible and Bible Commentary. Please ping me to let me know when the thread will start tomorrow morning.

Thanks and God Bless.

" why we are becoming allergic to the Earth."

There is a major increase in allergies and asthma. I'm guessing but it might be related to global magnetic shifts among other things(like psuedo estrogens etc.)...the poles have shifted in the past.

Handi-Wipes should do the trick (I believe they contain alcohol), and I'll bet they are way cheaper than that gel stuff. I keep them in the car.
Poor hygiene is a major problem. Basic rules of food handling and personal hygiene seem to have gone out the window. Many times I've seem hosts and guests on talk shows and cooking shows handle raw meat and then go on about their business. That is really disgusting.

Glad to hear that you've got "The Word", AD.

Remember; the English Language has changed just a bit since 1611, but a case can be made, I think, for "Divine Inspiration" having something to do with that process.

A select Committee was involved in the KJ translation, including the most brilliant minds in the Empire at the time;
Liguists, Historians, Theologans, Writers, Poets etc..

Some have claimed that William Shakespeare worked on it under a psuedonym, as the translation of the Holy Scriptures into the language of the "Common People" was not at all popular with the Roman Catholic Church, which at the time liked it limited to Latin, and accessable only to the Priesthood.
They felt that the Truth contained in the Scriptures was much too powerful to let the Peasents and Parishoners outside of the leadership elite get ahold of it, and anyone who attempted to leak God's Word to underlings was considered a "Heritic" and subject to excommunication - or worse.

Martin Luther was hunted like an animal by the Church for years and surely would have been tortured and killed had not a powerful friend cloistered him in his fortified castle.

By the 1600s the Romish Church was losing it's political, economic and tactical dominance of England, although several bloody civil wars were fought before the issue of religious domination was beaten into an uneasy sort of resolution.

Up until recently, those old serpents were still rising up out of the ancient bloodied ground of the Kingdom and biting people - most notably in Northern Ireland.
And I fear that some of them are lurking not far beneath the old sod yet.

So it makes perfect sense that a popular playwright would want to keep a low profile in a "heretical" project that could have cost him a lot of business - if not his life - had word of his participation in it gotten out.

Folks who study Shakespeares' work have claimed that his distinctive writing style is all over some of the most poetic and beautiful portions of the King James Translations.

Some Fundamentalist Protestant Churches accept the KJV as the ONLY and exclusive "Inspired, inerrant Word of God", while most mainline Conservative Christians are OK with some of the more contemporary versions. Some of the contemporized "Bibles" like the "Living Bible" I have very little use for personally, but they might get through to young people better than some of the others perhaps.

You might check with the Pastor of whatever fellowship you are led to associate with (pray about it and let the Spirit lead; when you enter the right Church, you will feel the Light, the Love, and the Presence right away, and you'll know) about which Translations that Fellowship is comfortable with / reccomends.

If any group suggests that they have some "inspired" source of authority, book or whatever that is claimed to be equal or superior in authority to the Bible (such as the "Book of Mormon", "Pearl of Great Price", "Doctrines and Covenants" etc., then I admonish you in the Name of Yeshua (Jesus) to get clear of them quickly, as you are dealing with a "Cult".
And what they are comparing to God's Word is known as "Extracannonical Authority" or "Bible in the Left Hand", and it is one of several distinguishing carachteristics of the classic cult movement.

I have little doubt that by advising you thusly in here that I have raised a few hackles; it won't be the first time.
Anybody who thinks that I can turn a skunk pretty well loose in the locker room with my politics has never seen me pile onto the "religion" roller-coaster!

In both politics and faith, I call 'em like I see 'em - and we don't win popularity contests that way, do we?

I could tell you about another very old, popular "Christian" Church that strangely enough meets nearly all of the standard criteria for a "Cult" in theology and practice, and has for over a thousand years...
But I'd have to go hide in an obscure castle someplace if i did.

Eventually, you will want a good Concordance to aid in your Bible Study. There are several, but I like my "Strong's".
It can be a great resource, especially if you get into preaching, teaching, or heavy-duty Bible Study.

You have set your foot on a path that will not be easy, and is not tread by the multitudes. It may, and probably will, take you through dark vallys where the pale, cold shadow lies. And over majestic peaks that will take your breath away.
It will cost you dearly - perhaps all that you know or hold in this World. But those who have followed it through would not exchange it for the World.
Although at times you may feel very lonely, you will never again be alone; He is with you... and so are we.
It might not always be obvious, though, especially at first.

But I for one am confident, Dear Pilgrim, that you have chosen wisely, and chosen aright.

For the Way you have set forth upon is the Way of Truth, and Love, and Light, and Life...
And the end thereof is Life Eternal... Peace that passes all understanding... and Joy that is full beyond measure.

Take up and read; I'ts all in there.

(Do I hear an "Amen!" out there, somebody?)

Please PM me if you would like to continue this discussion on another or new thread, and I will try to join you there as able.

Shalom in Yeshuah H'Messhiah.

"Jaque"

"using one of those anti-bacterial hand cleansers in between"

Actually the anti-bacterial hand cleansers are increasing the problem, not helping. It is helping to REDUCE the immunity to common germs, as is the too-frequent, unnecessary prescription of antibiotics.
