Not for nothing (or maybe too many movies) but, could this guy:
a. be a diversion, or,
b. a dupe for AQ testing the response time/type?

I just looked the article up on the Stamford Advocate's website - it was Bennigan's on 300 Atlantic Street - an extremely busy street, notorious for no parking. That in itself is pretty suspicious.
I wonder if that's his real name, and if there's a Noor Wali off in the ME somewhere with a stolen passport...
Good for whoever called the cops.

Definitely possible.

I like this Captain Conklin.

Of all the Noors and Walis listed in the FAA database, I don't find him. If he's a student pilot, and didn't get his medical for his solo, he wouldn't be in there.

i'll try and be optimistic for once and say this: my guess is that this guy, and the people videotaping Boeing, are ME "wanna be" terrorists here in the US. They likely fancy themselves as being on some kind of "mission", and conduct these actions on their own. Still, since this guy is not a citizen, I would hold him as an enemy combatant, just for the hell of it.

Despite the fact that incidents like this continue to happen in this country, some states still
allow illegal aliens to get driver's licenses while other states are seriously considering doing it. With a driver's license in hand, an illegal alien can board any commercial flight in this country. Absolutely insane!

An "absolutely insane" bump.

I like him, too. I hope they have enough cajones not to send him to the PC re-education camps.

Good point, this guy could be testing the response time of the local citizens. Same thing happened after 9/11: a number of Arabs were caught carrying suspicious items onto planes. I'm thinking of one case where the Arab claimed to be an art student and he needed a knife for an art project. But he camoflaged the knife inside a computer case. Very suspicious.

"It's good that people are on alert and report these things, and that the police takes them seriously."
Yes, it is very good. A short time ago people wouldn't be paying such close attention to actions like those of this man. And even if they did notice, they might not become suspicious about them.
That is what these lousy, stinking, terrorists need to know. We are all on the lookout now for them. And when they are summarily deported for illegal parking, the NY Times may weep, but the rest of us will shrug, or cheer.
