Personally, I think that anyone, not caught up in a I'm a victim mode of thinking, can live up to their full potential. Exactly what that potential is depends on the person. However, people can't realize that by claiming that tests are biased or racist and insisting that a lower standard be applied to them on the basis of race.

You are exactly right. Most of the difference between black and white IQs, IMO, is due to early childhood. I believe that people are born with a range of potential IQ and only some have the stimulation needed to get it into the higher range. Unfortunate.

Well said. This is the point I always try to make when this topic of discussion arises. It is painfully obvious that there are numerous white idiots and refreshingly pleasing to see those such as Condoleezza (sp? guess my IQ is lower than I thought)Rice and Clarence Thomas demonstrate the potential of humans of all races (this potential just kills those on the left, hence the "house n---er" and "I hope he dies of heart disease" comments from the leadership of the left). Averages such as these have no real value other than for academics, at least in societies in which individual ability controls over mere cosmetics.

Now the question is: are all of the approximately 100 faculty members of our school prejudice? Or is it true that our black population does not perform at the same level as our white students?

I think that there probably is some substance to studies that predict racial differences and IQ. But there are other things to consider that IQ tests have a hard time measuring.

As a rule, IQ tests measure conceptual ability. Conceptual ability is very important, but not EVERYTHING. There are other kinds of smarts.

Just about everyone's favorite president, Ronald Reagan, was no prize winner when it came to math and science, but in political science he was way ahead of Jimmy Carter (who WAS an ace in math and science).

When you are considering the probability of your students achieving successful careers, one factor you might want to look at as being highly important is "attitude." The students who are DRIVEN to use whatever tools they have are the most likely to succeed. Some of the conceptual giants will end up throwing garbage into trucks for a living, some of those who struggle through remedial math will end up as the future leaders.

Interesting hint here that the degree of competition and the spectrum of the population open to competition may be related to the average IQ. In sub-Sahara Africa, the struggle for existance is severe and constant but the individual does not have any future beyond mere life and little to say about that even, the IQ is less meaningful and thus low. In a relatively free society where cleverness can mean a better existance, IQ's are high. A socialist state, where there are limits both on how far you can fall and how far you can advance, IQ's are somewhere in the middle. In the USA, who lives is the socialist/welfare state (African Americans) and who lives in the free state (Whites & Asians) -- Hispanics are somewhere in between. Just a thought -- don't shoot.

In respect to affirmative action and educational selection and achievement in general, if one assumes the following findings are correct --Average Jewish IQ is 110-115, Average European White is 100, Average Korean-Chinese-Japanese is 108, average Aferican-American (actually 20% white) is 85--you can easily project what will happen on the average in a college setting.

Remember, it takes, on the average, at least an IQ of 110 to function in most professions including medicine, law, engineering and so forth; hence you will find Jews will have 60% or more above 110, Whites 20%, Asians 40%, and African Americans about 5%.

All of the figures cited are well known. The only disputes about the importance of IQ'S in education, income and even health and longevity occur with between non-scientist scholars, politicians and those that have special pleadings at heart.

If nothing else, we can learn that the reason Jews (I am not a Jew) have such a tough time and are regularly persecuted is not because they are failures but that they are successes in a civilized society. I guess God meant it when he described them as his chosen people.

No of course not.
But you can assume that if a person is black it is more probable that he is less smart than an asian, or put the other way if a person is asian it is more probable that he is smarter than a black. These are probabilities, they do not determine which of two individuals is smarter, only which is more likely to be smarter.
