I don't watch her either. First time I've ever seen her show that I can recall. Someone told me he was on and I flipped over there. He and Ruben were there. Both moms. The mother of the autistic boy Clay worked with. I didn't catch Ruben's performance, nor what Oprah had to say about him. She said all the standard things to Clay, but it didn't seem to me that her heart was in it.
As of right now, Clay's CD is #1 on Amazon, Ruben is #7.

Justin Guarini's CD was released today as well. The three were on with Oprah.......I was surfing, saw Clay, and stayed for most of the show. If Ruben sang, I missed it......but I heard Clay and Justin sing. Even with all the 'help' Justin just can't sing!!!!
Clay's voice is magnificent and he's just as sweet as can be..........
Clay's mom said she was in a restaurant and a patron paid for her meal in exchange for her autograph.......they are the nicest people.

Saw but didn't ping an article that said something like, while Justin made the girls swoon, his album has been greeted with only yawns.
I actually saw some talent in Justin. But he needed a lot more help and hard work to bring his voice up to something special. Apparently, that hasn't happened.
I think the producers have to be scratching their heads trying to grasp Clay's fan base.

P.S. When I said I saw some talent in Justin, I meant on the show last year. I didn't see Oprah today.

Clay is simply every girls dreamboat and every mom's dream son........he's cute and respectful.......in other words, the all american boy.

I wish they had a nicer pic of him on the cover of his single.
Of course, the pic of Kelly on her single was UGH.

Agreed.

Kelly's single was awesome.....the voice.. not the picture....the next CD was not well produced at all and the cover was awful too.
Who ARE these people producing this stuff? Not first rate, but Kelly's voice may carry her.......I know Clay's voice WILL carry him. Just got my Amazon notice that Clay's CD is on the way......

Oh, watching Justin on with Oprah was sad......his voice is nowhere.........
I didn't watch that closely during the first AI.......was he too the 'chosen' winner?
To: OldFriend
Kelly has dissed the "Moment Like This" song, but it is awesome. I heard it on the radio the other day and it blew away everything in that category.
Her new song, "Miss Independent," has garbled lyrics and messy tracks and no arc. The song builds a little, but basically just plods along. That said, it is growing on me and I can see why it appeals to some markets.
The shame is I have yet to hear Kelly sing as well as she did on AI. (Except for her "Moment" recording.)

Who ARE these people producing this stuff? The problem is that producing a decent recording is a very painstaking process. It takes months to put together a decent song, and usually a tolerable album will take a year to piece together. If Clay has a CD coming out in the next few weeks you can guarantee that from a production standpoint, it will be a piece of crap. It will likely ruin his career. (I think Kelly Clarkson is already on the downslope). Oh, well, he got more than 15 minutes of fame.

Your impression coincides with my own. I had no idea it would take that long to produce a CD.....but that explains the poor quality. The first single of hers and Clay's is purely their voice doing their best songs........and it's awesome........
I never ever buy CDs......I still forget and call them records, (so you see I am an OLD lady).....but Kelly's voice touched me as did Clay's.
From what I heard on Oprah yesterday, and it was straight from his CD.....Clay is going to be America's idol for a long time.....
Hard to figure the source of his powerful voice.....he's young and from no where....but the talent is huge.......

"This is the Night" is to Die For!
This single, which actually consists of Bridge Over Troubled Water and This is the Night, is incredible. Although "Bridge.." is not well mixed, and Clay Aiken's voice is somewhat drowned out, it's still a fabulous rendition. But the real treasure is This is the Night, a heartstoppingly beautiful song, maginficently sung by Clay Aiken. Clay fans will love this single, and many people will become new Clay fans when they hear it.

LET CLAY BE HEARD!!
Wow...Clay Aiken music is a dream come true! I only wish a lighter hand was used with the back-up vocals and choir. Clay's angelic voice continues to thrill and chill us nevertheless. An awesome listening experience for fans and first-time listeners alike. I'm convinced this is only the beginning for this very talented singer. Sure made my day! Thank you Clay and RCA!

A good record producer is as important or even more important than good music or good performers. Its the fine tuning and little extras that turn a typical lounge act song into a memorable hit. A rushed production for the sake of putting out a product will inevitably lead to something mediocre.
If an Album is produced in less than 6 months you can be guaranteed that most of the album will be infinitely forgetable. You might put together one or two good memorable songs, but the rest of the album is going to suffer. And so will the buyer.
