It is not right and moral to force a democracy that is seeking peace with its neighbors to submit to a suicidal plan that will deliver it defenseless into the hands of the Jihadis.

What is right and moral is to break the back of Arafat and his thugs and allow the Arabs of Palestine to make peace if they want. If not, then destroy them completely to protect the innocents.

That is what is right and moral.

Well I am fairly confident that my vision rather than yours will be tested.

Your vision has been tested time and again since 1948 and has continued to get worse and worse. At some point reality must break into your thick skull, demanding to repeat the test again is beyond sanity at this point. Some people never get a clue, it appears you are one of them. I have a suggestion, a real put up or shut up. Put on a star of David or American Flag T-Shirt and walk into Ramallah carrying a white flag shouting you want peace. I will watch with a telescope as the Arabs attempt to beat some sense into your skull. Before your lights go out, you just might, for once in your life, get a clue.

But I doubt it.

The Carrot and Stick doesn't work with Hamas and their sympathizers...

It does if the carrot is a free state laid at thier feet, and the stick is a swift blow to the head as they bend over to pick up the so called carrot.

I am soooo....tired of the world, the United States included, tolerating Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Fatah. Crush them now, or live with thier terrorism forever.

We have only one choice, stop (kill) them over there, before they reach our towns and cities. Or fight them here.

Oh, wait. It's ok. The Palestinian arabs are condemning the attack. Whew! For a moment there I thought this could be trouble for the Road Map.

Palestinian minister condemns Jerusalem bus attack
By THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

Palestinian Information Minister Nabil Amer condemned Sunday the suicide attack in Jerusalem in which 7 Israelis were killed and at least 21 were injured earlier in the day.

The blast occurred at 5:50 a.m. local time, when a bomber disguised as an Orthodox Jew wearing a tallit and a yarmulke, detonated 10 kg. of explosives strapped to his waist after boarding a crowded bus.

Amer said that the Palestinian Authority's policy is to condemn all terror attacks against Israeli civilians. Amer also called on the Israeli government to restrain its response to the attack and he said that the PA was committed to taking steps to end the terror attacks.

Why is it "sad" that Sharon canceled his trip? What's sad is the death of innocent people at the hand of Islamofascists, in Israel, and in other venues as well.

Or maybe you meant "pathetic" - as in the so-called road map is just another pathetic attempt to force Israel to negotiate with a Bin Laden like regime, and allow that corrupt death cult headed by Arafat to set up a terrorist state on Israel's borders.

Sad as in pathetic. This entire move to negotiate with terrorists will only end up in more dead Israelis. It is fruitless until the transit routes of the terrs through Syria and Lebanon are destroyed.

The headline should be, "Sharon Postpones His Scheduled Visit to the US." Sharon will still come. The delay may be a few weeks or so at most.

"...this certain near atheisic agnostic Wasp...."

Then you actually have but yourself to determine what is "right and moral". Very explanatory.

I suspect it is a bit of both. For some reason, I am viewed as a naive Pallie symp, even though what I am suggesting is that they get very little except in exchange for real deeds that are effectively carried out, not mere words, either oral of written. The odds are that won't happen, in which event as a practical matter I am on the same page as the Israel hawks which are circling in large numbers on this thread, with a couple of particularly agressive ones swooping down again and again to take a peck or two at my hide.

I didn't mean to suggest the road map didn't have bumps in the road.

The bumps are more like craters. FNC fails to comment on the statement of Abu Abbas concerning the meeting with Sharon, as quoted by the AP:

It said Abbas asked Sharon to halt military operations; allow Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, confined to his office for more than a year, freedom of movement; and to lift travel restrictions in the West Bank.

Bush refuses to negotiate with Arafat, the "roadmap" was predicated on the Pali PM having "real power," and one of the first demands is to allow "Palestinian leader" Arafat freedom of movement.

The Israeli statment after the meeting spoke only of the need to stop Palestinian violence.

So, if you are a leader responsible for the safety of your citizens, do you agree to the Palestinian demands to halt military operations and lift travel restrictions, leaving your citizens undefended, when there has been no indication that violence has abated and, more importantly, no indication that Arafat's authority is being diminished?

No. The first step in the road must be a reformation of governance on the West Bank, and muscular action taken by the Palestinian authorities to round up and prosecute the perps. And it must be made clear that that is a sine qua non to moving further down the road. I hope I am making myself clear.

I know you are. But as I mentioned in my first post to you (#9), the chances of that happening are about nil. Not that many Palestinians don't want peace -- they do. But Palestinian/Arab terrorist orgs (financed by Saudi Arabia and Iran) that plan on fighting a perpetual war until one side or the other is destroyed will make living up the conditions of the "roadmap" impossible. There are just too many of them, and they're incredibly well-financed and motivated. Call me a pessimist, but history has borne this out time and time again.

I would say that this "roadmap" is bound for failure if I thought that its original intention was to somehow bring peace to the region through the establishment of a Palestinian state. Obviously it can't, and the Bush administration knows it. Again, the roadmap is simply a (temporary) device to placate the Arabs while we take care of our business in the region.

The last thing Fahd and the HOS boys want is to stop the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The very last thing. ...And they pay through the nose to make sure it doesn't happen.

Agreed. I would add that radical elements of Israelis are just as averse to peace . . . the MOST radical still see the Euphrates as the natural eastern border of greater israel.

By canceling the trip to Washington Arik is REWARDING TERRORISM.

Question: Do you think that the Palestinians should be given a state in spite of the behavior of Palestinian terrorist orgs? Iow, do you think there shouldn't be any 'conditions' set forth?

I think that prior to "giving the Palestinians a State" the Israelis ought first to cease "taking" from that which might be "given".
