Not a surprise. They are such stringent law abiding folks, yaknow.

Getting arrested when the President is in town is a serious offense.

I have been here with barf bag in hand as I listen to the talking heads take cheap shots at Mr. Bush.

Channel 4 has Jerry Brown on laying down his usual drivel.

Channel 2 and their male talking heads are so obviously anti-Bush, I am ready to scream!

You should have heard me last night as the demRats knocked Mr. Bush for hyping the visit to the carrier. What dolts these creeps are?

Stay Dry! AF1 is enroute. 8-)

God Bless President Bush and a pox on the obstructionist demRATic party and all its supporters.

President Bush just came down the stairs and is congratulating a local fellow for volunteer work in the area for FReedom Corps, Stephen Hauck.

He is now in the car and heading to United Defense.

Just came from the rally ... got called into work ... when I left there were 4 news crews ... about 20 pro-Bush people including Freepers Counter Counter Culture and Deal_me-in and about 10 anti-America cretins.

The pro-Bush faction was interviewed first ... by channel 8 Salinas and channel 2 ... I believe it was. Then they went over to the dark side to interview them

Well, I've decided to not try Santa Clara.... My eyewitness who works about a block away says all the roads are shut down (no one can come or go) - no pedestrian traffic and SWAT teams and LE are everywhere. No one can get close to this.

I had no problem at all either getting in or getting out. I arrived at 6:45AM and left at 8AM .... my boss just can't seem to grasp the concept that there are things more important than work. Unfortunately there are few things that are more important than eating so I answered my bosses request (demand) to return to work.

Hundreds of protesters gather for Bush's Santa Clara visit

About 500 hundred anti-war protesters tried to greet President Bush for his brief stop here today -- but his motorcade bypassed their gathering on its way to the defense contractor where he was scheduled to deliver a speech on the economy.

Police in riot gear and on horseback watched the crowd, which was generally peaceful. One protester was taken away in handcuffs, though the reason for the arrest wasn't immediately clear.

Many protesters banged drums and chanted. One waved a sign that read ``Unemployment up, Stock down, Surplus gone, Deficit growing, Bush out 2004.''

The protesters did not try to block the road -- a common tactic in prior anti-war protests in the San Francisco Bay area -- which had been closed.

Maybe if I had brought my African drum, AP would have noticed our decent-sized group of flag-wavers?

The weather was favorable and didn't get worse than mostly cloudy.

Both factions gathered at the park at Lafayette and El Camino Real. When the police closed the ramps from Coleman to El Camino, we were allowed to use the overpass to walk over to Coleman just shy of the Starbucks there where the barricades were set up. Our side was over first so for awile we were in the majority as the other side rallied at the park. Their contingent marched over just in time for the motorcade to pass by, which used Brokaw and avoided Coleman.

More later with hopefully a few pics, one of "bugman". You'll see... ;-)

It was rather surreal. Bongoing and doing some kind of ritualistic dance (hop). I've seen more civilized headhunters. ;-)
