I was speaking to the rhetoric regarding WMD which will be harped on by a significant percentage of the American public and the world communityAs well it should be. Remember that was the original argument. The only people using 'regime change' as the rallying cry from the get-go were Kristol and the boys over at the New American Century website. You know the one Cheney was a part of up until sometime around '98
I fully believe that Saddam has produced WMD's in the past and has supported international terrorism and would continue to do so without our intervention.
Well produce 'em then!! I mean Powell was standing up at the UN and Fox News was blaring that 'intelligence reports' stated that 'we know right where they're at'. So I don't see as it would be that hard to find them. Unless you're going to believe, that while being attacked non stop, Hussein and the boys took 'em all off to Syria or somewhere. Ahh, but that gives the neocons their next target now doesn't it?
That is a significant enough threat to our national security to justify what was done here whether or not WMD's are found at this point in time.
Why is that again? If they're not there, then Hussein presented no direct and viable threat to the borders of these United States. Iraq wasn't the nation that produced 15 of the 19 terrorist hijackers (Saudi Arabia, our 'ally', did that BTW)
And of course we all know how easy it is to deal with Islamic theocracies. Yeah, that's just barrels of fun. Iran ring any bells does it? And I'm sure as an Islamic theocracy they're not going to hold any grudges against Israel. No sirree.
Was Hussein bad? Yes. Did Hussein needed to be gotten rid of? My opinion, yes. But don't use excuses to gain a rallying cry and throw good people that just question under the bus just for daring to question a man

To start saying this President is DONE, is a tad premature. If I said "this President is DONE" it would be premature. I did not.
What I did say was that the failure to find WMD coupled with a continued faltering economy COULD lead to result similar to Bush I. Just something to be mindful of.

You may have me confused with some other poster. I don't see where I attacked those who would choose to criticize Bush here.

I love it when the intelligent ones join the debate. So much value can be added with only a few well-thought words...

But the fault of that kind of thinking, would be that it says President Bush and/or his economical policies had anything to do with the current economy!!
He inherited this economy,.. it was on a decline and some believe already in a recession when he took office. In light of everything that has happened since then, it is a PURE miracle that the US didn't go into a depression.
Considering his accomplishments both in our nations Security, in countries that harbored or aided and abetted Terrorists (Afghanistan and Iraq for starters, and watch for what will soon happen in Israel/Palestine!) and in reversing dangerous precedence set by the previous admin. regarding all the above.. add to that the economy.. and I'd say we OWE this President the benefit of the doubt on his tax cuts.
There have been naysayers since he took office. I say he has proved every single one of them wrong.
He will continue to do so. We NEED for him to be re-elected for the good of our country!
Perhaps if we quit behaving as defeatest, and started to explain the historical record we'd get further in achieving that goal.
I can't believe ALL Americans will have as short of memories as some in this thread do.
That was MY point.
We cannot AFFORD to NOT have him re-elected as President in 2004. For a "multitude" of reasons!! It would be dangerous.. in a "mulitude" of ways.
