This is like the Telltale Heart. Except Poe's murderer had a conscience that caught up with him. I wonder if this has bothered Scott Icewater-in-his-veins in the least.

Does anyone know if Scott Peterson is a Democrat. I'll bet that he is. Wasn't he Gary Condit's Intern a few years back?
To: Catspaw
Well, we're not required to do so.
I am willing to remain skeptical, but good Lord, this guy's actions have been SO consistent with total guilt!
They say the statistics favor the spouse. To put himself right there at the scene, then to behave so suspiciously, selling the woman's car, trying to sell the house, selling her clothes...
No one in their right mind behaves that way.
I am reminded of Darlie Routier, the Dallas-area housewife who was convicted of murdering her two children in cold blood. The most consistent thing about her behavior afterward is that she showed a stunning lack of concern about the fact that her two boys were dead.

But they said, when he heard about the bodies found "he was distraught."He wasn't distraught; he was just in a brain-strain trying to figure out where Laci put all of the the receipts for the baby clothes/supplies.

ah, maybe the Rochas may inherit the life insurance policy, or maybe the home and other secured assests may be foreclosed, or sold... Messy things, but for now, the Rochas can now file a wrongful death civil suit against Scott, and most likely the Petersons....
There won't be closure until all the turmoil ends, and a firm conviction is meatered out.

Who fishes on Christmas Eve? This stunk to high heaven from day one. Remember that they would be hosting a Christmas day brunch? You would think even a semi-loving hubby would stick around to help out his pregnant wife with arrangements, decorations, food, errands, etc?
Instead he goes FISHING? I don't think so.

I thought that the most likely scenario is that he weighted the body, which basically came apart after this amount of time.

And just imagine. People say the holidays are terrible forever for those whose loved ones have died on one of those days.
Laci's family has 2 holidays now that will forever be reminders of the horror she and her child went through when leaving this world.

They might be 'saving' one count, in case he isn't found guilty at the end of the first trial.

"...no one ever came forward..."
An elderly couple that lived close by said on TV, I think it was Greta's show, that they had seen her that a.m. walking her dog.
That being said, they are pretty old and may have the days mixed up. I think he did it the night before.

Well, just be thankful he's a white male. There won't be any compunction about exacting the appropriate sentence: Death.
(Sorry, Catspaw, I know you and I disagree on this point, but like Peterson's behavior since his wife's disappearance, it just seems inerringly obvious what the reality is).

He sure managed to LOOK guilty. The hard thing to do is to wait to find out what evidence the prosecutor has. You can bet it's a WHOLE lot more than what we know. And we don't know what Peterson told the cops. Or what they found in his house. Or what they found on and with the bodies.
Yeah, he sure LOOKS guilty. But I will grit my teeth and not convict him. Yet.
Dan Abrams said that he doesn't know what charges Peterson was arrested for, but he did say the Rocha family was notified of his arrest.

I think I read somewhere that if they found the concrete blocks the remains were weighted with, they could match the concrete to the concrete mix found in his garage.

Please ping me if there's any breaking on this case. Of course you may recall that I'm on your sniper thread. I do not think that he beheaded her. I think it was the elements and the sea creatures. In Florida, guys who are too macho to wear life jackets capsize and they find em weeks later miles away from where they capsized or fell overboard.
Kim, it's a long time since Christmas. He did however, do it IMO.

"Isn't it amazing that they arrested him BEFORE telling us it was Laci? "
I'm not surprised....i thought all that "IT could take a long time" was hogwash, while they gathered all the evidence to make this arrest.. God rest their souls, Laci and that precious baby.
TO hell for that filthy bastard......bastard.....bastard....boils my blood.....
