Someone is puking data onto the net and slowing it way down. I can't take it any more after another allnighter. So I'm popping smoke.

You haven't lived until you've had a roomie who daily plays -- for hour upon hour at a time -- the original star trek series recorded in audio on a reel-to-reel.

I think we just had a FR moment of silence. These American troops, men and women all, remind of the words of Jesus. "greater Love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for a friend." America is sometimes described as being 'post christian,' but I will not accept that. Until the Lord is finished with us I believe, I MUST believe, that His men and women, will hold the fabric of this Nation together. In spite of our different shades of doctrine we who lift His name and cry over our land will never be ignored by our Lord. That is where we get such men.

Yeh....remember the impeachment threads.....we had to start a new thread after every 100 post....it was a nightmare.
This system works much better!

Yeah you missed it kit, I was wondering where you were!
We got everything worked out now, so it's all good.
Did you read that post from Howlin about CNN?
All I can say is that if it is true, they held back what many other news agencies have bee trying to tell the world for years!
As far as I'm concerned, they can hold hands with Al Jazeera and get the hell outa Dodge!

I was attempting to get some good sleep, but it didn't work. I'm past slap happy (that was yesterday) and on to cranky. So, maybe it's better that I wasn't around! LOL!!
I'm so thankful that we have a choice of news agencies now instead of having to rely on CNN and ABCCBSNBC for our war coverage. I think you hit it on the head, CNN is the western version of Al Jazeera.

I usually don't let myself get drawn in but I was a little cranky myself...I usually go to bed early due to the early hr. that I have to get up for work (4am) But I stayed on to nearly midnight!
Most of us kissed and made up..the other I just stopped responding to because it was becomming a little childish.
Those are the people that had kept me lurking for so many years...
But they're greatly out-numbered by many, many wonderful FReepers that made me feel right at home.

Good morning everyone! Since it's a little slow this morning, I thought I'd put in my two cents about the "unhappy camper" who complained about our live thread last night. I've only been a FReeper for a short time, compared to most of you, and before the war began, I ALways went to the "breaking news" thread--several times a day. Once the war began and the situation room live thread was started, this is the FIRST place I go in the morning (and a zillion times throughout the day & night :) This war has been stressful for all of us, and I see nothing wrong with our "chit-chat" during the slow news times. Also, I might add, this particular thread is what inspired me to become a Free Republic donor -- I enjoy this thread immensely, and I hope it doesn't change just because of one person's whining. THANK YOU all for making this war a little less stressful, and more bearable. Keep up the great work! You all rock!!!

I second this post! I too have been here a relatively short time, but it has quickly become my favorite place to be!
It is a great combination of information and silliness that takes the edge off of the stress of what is going on in the war.
I check this place out first thing in the morning and then again as soon as I get home, sometimes not signing off until bedtime. I am totally addicted!

Would you please send me a FReep mail or a link as to where there is info on this? I live in Huron and would like to be there to show my respect.

I see nothing wrong with our "chit-chat" during the slow news times. My two cents. Chit-chat is great in the Canteen or the like. I prefer most of the posts to be on-topic. Getting off-topic is OK in small doses but it tends to go to the extremes. The whole wanker thing was a great example of drift. Not fatal like a picture brawl but it makes it hard to find the pearls. People used to ping me to the Canteen and I couldn't even read it because of the pictures.
