Hehehe, Gen. Brooks' deck of cards has generated a lot of interest today.
To: Carolina
There was quite loud laughter over that question by Sky News.....even the General got a good laugh out of that one. I laughed quite loudly, myself.....the Brits certainly have great humor, IMHO.
To: All
The murders of the two Clerics are our fault. We didn't provide enough security, don't you know? It certainly wasn't the fault of the people who were wielding the axes, swords, knives, and such.
And it's the wife's fault when she gets beaten by her wife-beater husband. Same same.
(Wow though... did you catch the depth of emotion in Brooks' voice regarding the death of the Cleric? That's the most emotion I've ever heard in his voice.)

Welcome back all you morning folk.
This all nighter is ready to leave. I'm backspacing more than typing.
Another great night on Free Republic!

Now talking about the gruesome killing of the clerics yesterday....very disappointed.....very, very unfortunate.....urging the Iraqi people to help them discover all the facts concerning the killing of the cleric...saying (something) has now been taken away from the Iraqi people because of the cleric's death.

ST:6 is my favorite of the original Treks. Fav scene, Kirk leaning forward in his chair: "Ffffire!"
I've been newsless today and after reading through the thread I'm feeling pretty caught up. Wondering if there is a latest on Tikrit?

Question about Koffee's statement about Geneva Convention violations in Baghdad
Grrrrrrrrrr.
To: Carolina
Yeah the same Koffi Annan who couldn't be bothered by Iraq's wholesale oppression of its people when its regime was in good graces at Turtle Bay. GRRRRRRRRR....

Oh, goodie. Here's the HongKong reporter who asked the infamous question about coalition retreat and surrender...where are the WMDs...how you gonna find them, especially w/out Saddam?
To: Carolina
Where as Anan's concern about the atrocities and human rights violations under Saddam??????? Children in prisons, about which he had FULL KNOWLEDGE, BUT NOT A PEEP from Anan about that.
To: Fledermaus
Goodnight/goodmorning... yes, thanks for the lively night. :-) Sleep well, so we can be less cWanky tomorrow. :-)
To: nicmarlo
Where as Anan's concern about the atrocities and human rights violations under Saddam??????? Yeah, it's ridiculous for him to be warning us about GC violations when he's been complicit in too many other places.

Is Saddam the Queen of Hearts?
To: not-an-ostrich
Mosul was unique compared to Basra or Baghdad because Kurdish troops had the city secured and probably would have kept order until Turkey said they were going to deal themselves in. We had to pull them from the town to keep Turkey out.

Good morning, Situation Room!
Watching the briefing now. Great comment about a joker in every deck! Sky News guy redeemed himself a bit from his whining questions last week.
Just a bit, though.
To: nicmarlo
Explain to me what right the TURKS have in IRAQ???? That's my question, too.
To: nicmarlo
There have been Kurd revolts inside Turkey. They have no right to any area of Iraq..They don't want a Kurd state.Concerns..no rights.

Just a bit, though. He did get his dig in about trading the regime for anarchy.
