I'm sending an email to CBS telling them how much we have appreciated their webcam.
Thank you for providing the BagCam during Operation Iraqi Freedom. My friends and I at FreeRepublic.com watched it constantly.

We became fond of the man who tended the camera...we named him "Achmed", since he never said his name for us to hear. We would appreciate it if you could pass along to him our gratitude and admiration for the times he ignored potential danger and showed up to do his job.

Our hats are off to "Achmed" and his assistants for a job well done.

Why don't we all send one asking them to send along our regards to Achmed. Crobnson has sent one and gotten a reply. Let's make Achmed feel good, huh?

CBS News...go to the "feedback" button at bottom of page

(I'm holding off on mentioning Liz and Annie and Richard...don't want to detract from the Achmed message)

Fox showing military complex in Baghdad (equivalent of our Pentagon) and their ministry of intelligence with and underground tunnel/space with endless (seemingly) file drawers of information on individuals in Iraq. Obviously saying these are files kept from spying on Iraqi citizens. But the complex is massive - one of the barracks having been struck by a Tomohawk missile. But, It is clear that this complex is quite critical and quite important and I hope we will do whatever it takes to be sure we get everything out of there we need for intelligence gathering, etc. Seems we need an army of translaters whom we can trust. (I am sure they are working on this). And fast.

Maybe Freepers should take up Arabic for this purpose out of patriotic duty - seriously. I know it would take a while to get up to speed, but reading Arabic-language documents is going to be significant for the next several years or longer.

I'd guess that there are about 20 million liberated Iraqis who will volunteer for these jobs.

This chatter that Hussein was dead was asked about at the Pentagon briefing.

Rumsfeld deflected by saying he is not convinced either way and they hear chatter of both dea and alive...But the reporters must have sources saying the chatter leans heavily toward the one conclusion.

These people kill me. I guess they would be happy if we were all wearing bustles and tri-corner hats, y'know to preserve "American culture".

Uzma Bashir is a millionairess

...and a wanker, absolutely!

Thanks for the heads up. Investigations into abettors will continue for decades. I wouldn't walk around in downtown if I were Dan or Kofi any time soon.

Good work, A.i.T.

There is another thread currently going that says Putin has announced he would seriously consider forgiving all debts owed to Russia by Iraq. This, of course, puts Schroeder and Chirac in a terrible spot.

So, maybe Putin and Bush are playing a very deep diplomatic game. Forgiving the debt is pretty good, and Chirac will have a hard time, because he will look bad if he doesn't, and he will look bad if he does.

I am remembering that Russia opened that oil field and started shipping to us. Maybe our purchase of Russian oil will make up the difference over the long haul, and France will have it stuck to them once again.

It is something to think about, anyway.

On the other hand, Putin may be trying to save his relationship with the US and simply saying something to get back in our good graces, and I am indulging in wishful thinking.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Steve Harrigan's Fox News caravan got attacked in Baghdad. Lots of people were cheering them, and suddenly a bunch of young Iraqi males attacked their cars with blunt instruments. He doesn't really know why.

I figure they thought he was Robert Fisk.
