It was the next natural step down the way we are going. After 9/11 it didn't matter what your circumstance was. Whether you were a CEO or a waiter. It's wrong and there's nothing that will convince me it's right.

Personally, I find this thread tacky. pointless even.
To: Hildy
Agreed. Why don't they set up the fund for all Americans who died during the Iraq war and split it among the soldiers, too.

Bloom worked for GE. If they can't afford to educate his kids nobody can. Who is going to pay for the education of the kids of the 49 dead servicemen?
I felt the same way about the stink raised about the death of those newsmen. One thousand Iraqi civilians and over one hundred coalition troops killed don"t matter, but a couple of dead journalists is a travesty and a tragedy. Who the hell do these news spinners think they are? One thing is obvious; they think they are way better and more important than the rest of us.
To: Hildy
He had a wife who is young and beautiful. I had a wife who was young and beautiful until she died from a PE. If the journalists wanted to work to raise public awareness of deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) and PE, I'd applaud such efforts. But I'm sure Mr. Bloom had life-insurance.

If reports are true, Bloom essentially committed suicide.
He'd been having symptoms, was given a phone diagnosis of
probable DVT (lethal clot threat) and elected to stay on the job.
If his personal or work insurance excluded war zones, he
knew that, and elected to put his family's security at risk.

I agree. Mr. Bloom was highly paid and I'm positive his family has been well taken care of. He certainly had mega life insurance; NBC surely provided mega life insurance-especially since he was going to cover a war. Given his reported, treasured relationship and comradery he had with most everyone in his well paid industry, I guarantee his family won't ever have to worry for anything financial. I pray for their healing, but my contributions will go where they are needed.

" I'm telling you, this is what happens when you take religion out of society." You know, it's people like you who give religion a bad name. Get a grip already. People who don't want to donate, don't have to.

I'd rather send a hundred bucks to Mr Lynch to help pay for his "shindig" when he gets his hero daughter home.
In fact, I think I will. Anyone with me?

Yeah. The 9/11 thing too. I was so pissed off in my post that I failed to express it right. There is always a hidden agenda hiding behind the sorry emotions-manipulating tug that is presented. Look at the foundations that rich guys set up and then get taken over by creepy leftists who virtually steal the money by diverting it to their own causes. I really hate "fund-raising". There is such sanctimony as they go about there false game. This Bloom thing is a really perfect example. You could look a long time before you would find three kids who will not have an easier time getting money from college, etc.
It just shows what utter contempt these guys have the rest of us. All that money and access to all that money, and they have the f______g nerve to get a rich Wall Street Law Firm to volunteer to set up a trust fund in order to try to suck money off of people who really can't afford to give it.

Well said.

I TOTALLY Agree with you and I emailed O'Reilly about it. Disgusting- the dead soldier's kids didnt' have rich reporter daddies that probably had great insurance and a lot of rich media friends to help them. Disgusting.
BTW---your nick wouldn't happen to be after the character in one of my favorite movies- "His Girl Friday"- would it? ;-D

I agree - perhaps the Freeper investigation team can contact the bases where those who gave the ultimate sacrifice were stationed and find out if there are any trust funds established - and we could do a little fund raiser for them.

No, I'm not with you. I'd rather give (and did give) to the children of dead marines and dead law enforcement officers who were killed on the job. Go to Rush Limbaugh's website for the info and address.
To: Hildy
You would think that if they loved him so and wanted to take care of his kid college theyd have a lunch together, get out their checkbooks and do it quietly with a little class. They are all millionaires, and will earn millions in the future. But then again these are media types, clueless at best.

Hildy IS my real name. My Mom and Dad needed an H because I'm named after my Grandfather HYMAN (No jokes). There's not a very large selection of H names, (Thank God they didn't go with Hillary). My Father is a writer and I know The Front Page was one of his favorite plays, but I can't honestly tell you that I was named for that.

O'Reilly even seemed to be a little embarrassed at the end when he said it again.
I heard it, but the impression I got from Bill-O was that this wasn't really heartfelt.
O'Reilly has never been a "journalist", altho he loves to spin the opposite with his little references to being a war correspondent in some Banana Republic. He's a tabloid boy, with his real roots springing from "Inside Edition".
