This TRIBUTE TO THE TROOPS will be held April 12, 2003, at 7PM, a nighttime gathering, with a flashlight vigil.

All Are invited.

This rally is sponsored by the Veteran's Council of Bristol, Connecticut, and with the support of the Mayor of Bristol, Ct.

Forwarding this info to my brother...he is the leading petty officer of the Sea Cadet unit in Plainville and many of the cadets live in the Bristol area. These middle- and high-school aged kids are deeply patriotic and most will end up in the military (usually Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard). Many of the Navy and Marine reservists who help train them are deployed right now. I'm not sure if they're allowed to wear their uniforms, but maybe we can get some of these wonderful youngsters there with their families!

BRISTOL VETERAN’S COUNCIL

A “TRIBUTE TO THE TROOPS” WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, APRIL 12TH AT 7PM AT MEMORIAL BOULEVARD SCHOOL FIELD, BRISTOL, CT

THE EVENT WILL FEATURE PATRIOTIC SONGS AND READINGS TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR OUR TROOPS IN IRAQ AND THEIR FAMILIES.

THOSE ATTENDING ARE ASKED TO BRING A FLASHLIGHT AND LAWN CHAIR IF THEY WANT TO SIT. IN THE EVENT OF RAIN, THE PROGRAM WILL BE HELD INSIDE THE SCHOOL.

IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TRIBUTE, A LIST IS BEING COMPILED OF AREA RESIDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED. PLEASE CONTACT MELANIE DEAL AT 582-5998 WITH THE SERVICE PERSON’S NAME, RANK, AND OUTFIT THEY ARE SERVING WITH.

FROM THE NORTH OF BRISTOL: TAKE RTE 84 WEST TO EXIT 34, RTE 72 EXIT. THIS EXIT WAS JUST REBUILT, IT IS THE RIGHT HAND EXIT AFTER THE NEW BRITAIN EXIT, IT IS ALSO THE PLAINVILLE EXIT OFF 84, WHERE THE 5 LANES MEET FROM 72 AND 84 MERGING. GET IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, YOU NEED TO GO RIGHT, 84 GOES LEFT!

AT THE END OF THE HIGHWAY, GO STRAIGHT TO THE FIRST LIGHT. TURN RIGHT AT THAT LIGHT (PINE STREET). GO PAST STOP & SHOP/THEATERS/99 RESTURANT ON THE RIGHT

GO ON ABOUT 2 MILES PAST DUNKIN DONUTS. AT THAT LIGHT, GO STRAIGHT UP THE HILL, SOUTH STREET, DOWN THE OTHER SIDE. THE BOULEVARD IS ACTUALLY TO YOUR RIGHT, BUT THIS WAY BRINGS YOU TO THE SCHOOL, WHICH IS AT THE END OF THE TOWN GREEN, WHICH IS ON YOUR RIGHT.

FROM THE EAST: TAKE RTE 9 TO RTE 72 TO BRISTOL ((WHERE 72 MEETS 84 ON THE WEST SIDE OF NEW BRITAIN) FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FROM ABOVE.

FROM THE WEST (NEW YORK)
TAKE RTE 84 EAST TO EXIT 31, TURN LEFT AT THE END OF THE EXIT AND HEAD NORTH/WEST

GO STRAIGHT FOR ABOUT 5 MILES, GO PAST ESPN, ALL THE SATELLITE DISHES, ABOUT 2 MILES AFTER ESPN,(AFTER THE ABANDONED FACTORY ON THE LARGE GREEN LAWN ON THE RIGHT NAMED SUPERIOR) TURN LEFT UP THE HILL. THERE WILL BE AN ALDI'S STORE ON THAT LEFT TURN, SOUTH STREET.

TAKE THAT LEFT ONTO SOUTH STREET. RALLY WILL BE 1 MILE AHEAD ON THE RIGHT.

I MADE A MISTAKE, SOUTH STREET IS ACTUALLY THE STREET ON THE BACK SIDE OF THAT HILL, THAT LEFT TURN IS MOUNTAIN ROAD, IT IS THE CORNER WHERE ALDI IS LOCATED, AND DUNKIN DONUTS IS ON THE FAR RIGHT AWAY FROM THE CORNER.

THE TRIBUTE TO THE TROOPS IS LOCATED AT THAT LEFT TURN ON MOUNTAIN ROAD, WHICH TURNS INTO SOUTH STREET, AND THE RALLY IS ONE MILE DOWN ONTHE RIGHT AT THE END OF THE GREEN.

Frank- didn't meet you on Sat- we would have invited you to our post-rally "meeting" at Coach's. I remember you from Liebermans -and/or- Westfarms protests- right?

Race -Heard you -again- on Brad this am. He really likes you, you know. He always uses your full name. I wanted to thank him again on Sat but he was pulled away from his fans. I'm helping my folks out with a tag sale on Sat so an evening freep works perfectly. Anyone need a small sleeper sofa? a country-style kitchen table?

BTW- there is an anti-war rally Sat April 12 3:00 Litchfield- anyone wanna FREEP IT? It's not too far from Bristol- plenty of time to get there by 7:00

To prepare for the Freep, we will be all invited to the 99 RESTURANT on Pine Street at 3PM

Take 84 to Rte 72 to Bristol

At the end of the highway, go straight through thelight, and at the next light, turn right onto Pine Street

Go up Pine Street 1/2 mile, and in the mall on the right is the Resturant.

We can all meet there at 3PM until 5 or so, I have to go and help set up for 5:30!!

The rally is 4 miles from the resturant, right up the street!
