Your comments are on the money, IMO. This war will be a major turning point for FOX News, but other news outlets as well. Instead of the red-headed step-kid Fox was seen as, they are now the clear leader. CNN and MSNBC has 2 choices. Continue to lose audience to Fox OR become more "Fox-like". I have already seen MSNBC do this to some measure. CNN is dragging their feet, still in complete denial. They can flounder around all they want trying to win viewers with the Aaron Browns and Connie Chungs all they want, but it is an ATTITUDE as much as personality that holds viewers. Simply put, Fox has the proper attitude for this war and for American viewers. CNN tries to be too "international". They can hold on to whatever claims they want, but unless they make some drastic changes, they will continue to sink. Headline News? So what, wait until Fox comes out with their version. They'll take those viewers, too.

"CNN spokeswoman Christa Robinson downplayed Fox's ratings advantage, saying Nielsen shows that more people at least sample some of CNN's coverage during the day."
I "sample" it only when I want to see/hear leftists comments that get me all riled up and gung-ho again.
They HAVEN'T been on-the-ball and I do my darndest NOT to watch their crap.

FNC broke the story of the Basrah uprisings 15 minutes before MSNBC or CNN. They are doing a great job.

YES! We love Colonel David Hunt too (the guy with the raspy voice.) He never sleeps! He is on late with Greta, then I'd wake up at 3am and he'd be on, in a different suit, with Laurie Dhue. Then he's on Fox and Friends in the morning, in yet another suit. And he does wear rather nice suits!!!!

Fox's ratings are higher because its viewers watch for a longer time. LOL - I don't switch my channel.
It's the WAY Fox presents the story that encourages loyalty.... CNN will NEVER understand fair and balanced.

What this article fails to mention (and to FNC's credit) is that Fox is in WAY fewer homes than CNN. A lot of cable companies (such as those in San Francisco) don't carry FNC. I'd like to see the numbers on that reported!!! By the way, does anyone know the statistics???

There's some other military analyst on though, usually during Greta's show period, and he's over the top. Such a pessimist. Worried about this and that, which gets Greta going, and the two of them seem like nervous Nellies.
The other day Col. Hunt was on with them and finally said "Whoa" to their antics.

To MSNBC's credit, they still have the best website, with the live feed and all. What is taking FOX so long to do that??? The should have had that technology before this war started - it would've been BIG for them. Also, I have yet to see FOX hook up with a major newspaper or magazine (like MSNBC has the Newsweek stories) and report them on their website. They would be a good fit with the Wall Street Journal, I think. Just my 2 cents!!

I have Fox on constantly. Great coverage. But then I expected it, not only for coverage, but by now I have personal friendship feelings with most everyone there. I feel like I know them like my family. Brit is a joy to watch and he's the one to thank for the whole presentation. They are showing, before changing shows, pictures from the war front which are as patriotic and striking as those posted here on FR on the "You Gotta See this" threads.
I even like Greta's show. She's a great interviewer, direct pertinent questions and does not try to put herself more than she should into the scene, plus she keeps it going hitting many subjects.
And, I love Geraldo's reporting. I said from the beginning when everyone was complaining that Fox had hired him, wait I bet he's going to be good; he wasn't being given a political show, he was going to be a war correspondent and who better at that?
Someone answer a question for me; when they compare the ratings with CNN, does that take into account that Fox News has fewer cable outlets?
To: dangermouse
Thats because the MAJORITY of us know the TRUTH when we hear it. CNN is really showing their TRUE COLORS in their obvious disappointment when our troops do well.
I used to call it the "CLINTON NEWS NETWORK".. but I'm changing it to the "COMMUNIST NEWS NETWORK".

Interesting. Fox News is not partisan Republican in its coverage, just more positive toward US officials than the other networks and less positive towards Iraqi propoganda.
Since the US sources are pretty much telling the truth, Fox has been just as accurate as the other channels in covering the US side of the war (the Scuds might be an exception) and MORE accurate in covering the Iraqi side of the war. Fox has been skeptical of Iraqi propoganda almost immediately, while the more cautious CNN and MSNBC have been at least partially taken in again and again.
Part of being a reliable news outlet is having great instincts about who is lying and who is telling the truth. Fox's instincts have proven better than CNN's and MSNBC's, which is why they have been the most reliable instant news source. It is not objective reporting to treat repeated liars as just as credible as repeated truth-tellers (as the BBC does).
Having said that, except for showing Iraqi propaganda pictures, CNN and MSNBC have been doing much better than usual, perhaps reflecting the competition of Fox, which helps keep them honest.
The MSNBC reporting from Umm Qasr this afternoon was SPECTACULAR--showing in detail the reactions of Iraqi children to being liberated. Remember, it's about the children.
