Believe what you will, but unless you are privvy to all the info, and all matters of state, I would just pipe down and wait to see what happens..... There ya go. Hell I'm a Navy wife and even we don't have a clue as to what's going on. *L* We're just as nervewracked here in VA Beach as anywhere else. My husband's out to sea now (unrelated, training underway) and due back by the end of the month.

I've seen them a few times in air shows. There's nothing like these planes, folks. I've heard louder riding mowers than these damn things at roughly 1000FT overhead.

Believe me, he IS getting my prayers, and of course, so are the troops.

Actually, I was comparing him more to Nixon.

Right on brother 11B!
Some Americans may not understand the depth of this conflict once it starts, or the level of commitment they may need to steer the course in this. We will win this, of that I am certain, and we will win because we are right, moral, and doing the work of God in the finest American tradition.
It is definitely time for the "real Americans" to stand up. Support our President, definitely suport our troops ( and your brother, God bless him), and have faith they are doing the absolute best they can in a difficult situation. We will damn sure prevail!
Every pissant nation in the world seems to think they have the opportunity to take the US down a notch over this, and we are the turkey in the turkey shoot. There are a lot of out of Iraq considerations to add to the middle east picture all over the world. Iraq isnt the only game in town.
Armchair Presidents dont have the Intelligence data, military data, or the latest information about the world situation available to them. Some dont even have a day of military service.
Us old hats know the signs, but even we dont have the latest scoop.
As for me and mine, we will stay the course no matter what! God Bless America!

Will the war with Iraq begin before the end of the day (Washington D.C. time) March 17th, 2003?

Great point, one I had not thought of: If the 'Useless N' gets in our way, make sure it gets in everyone else's way too. We have the luxury of time; other countries esp N Korea do not. And UN obstruction or no we will most likely get what we want in the end anyway. This may well be what Bush has in mind. After all, the big thing is to get rid of Saddam and get the ball rolling on reforming that whole region. Destroying the UN at the same time, even if it looks like a possible outcome, would be asking an awful lot.

That bat-winged thing is highly effective.
They'll never see it coming.

I just read your post again. It is nothing short of pure drivel. Just who the hell do you think you are telling ANYBODY that they don't belong on this thread just because they say something with which you don't wholeheartedly agree? The grunts I knew had class. It's indeed a pity none of their honor rubbed off on you. You shame their memory.

Didn't mean to come off snippy or anything.
Guam would be much closer to base B-2s for a Korea strike.
I do see your logic, though.

Sorry I sort of snapped back at you. The thing that bugged me about the article was the title said the destination was
The Middle East.
I've had a couple occasions to deal with reporters so anytime they're too lazy to check a map or too ignorant to get some basic facts straight, I really shouldn't be surprised or upset. I respect the fact that you checked the comparative distances. The problem is that there are people out there who lap up the network news and their local paper's drivel as holy gospel and then are shocked when reality turns out to be different.
In the case of Diego Garcia, we're fortunate the British allow us to base there as from its location we can vector toward the Middle East, South Asia, East Asia, or Africa for that matter. If the reporter had caught on to this he might've been able to help his readers see the "bigger picture".

Since your judgment of Bush is way off the mark. I suspect your judgment of Nixon is the same.
To: justshutupandtakeit
(Sigh...). Why is it that a well-intentioned comment is blown way out of proportion? I said I was getting uncomfortable due to what seemed at the time as some waffling by Bush. I saw much the same thing when I was in the Air Force, and Nixon was president. On more than one occasion he called off some very heavy bombardments of N. Vietnam because of "political considerations."
