how come 8 track tapes only had 4 useable tracks? :-)

Stereo. 4 on the left, 4 on the right.

"You can get 1200 MP3s, or about 60 hours of music on each disc."

That would about do it for me. Every tune I ever liked plus a few Brother Dave Gardner routines thrown in. Hah! My life in music on one disc.

That's like, dude, 500 HOURS of MP3s. Take ya a month just to play it back!

At that point, people will be downloading playlists that tap into prerecorded discs. There is no way that someone can remember all the songs that would be on a disc that size.

"I still say Vinyl will make a comeback."

LOL I've sold quite a few rare vinyl pressings to people in Japan; none in the U.S.

There will always be rewards for musical entertainment

The best music ever created was composed by people who, at best, lived an upper middle-class lifestyle.

Once big record companies go out of business, I expect music will get better.

Plus, there is no need to steal music. Go to MP3.com and IUMA.com and legally download all you like.

If you kids are in school band, go to the armed forces band sites and download all the Sousa you can stand (and more).

Stereo. 4 on the left, 4 on the right.

In the 8 track days, electronics were still magical things, the joke was telling your friends the other 4 was the other side of the tape. I guess I'm old. :-(

That's like, dude, 500 HOURS of MP3s. Take ya a month just to play it back!

And you would still need 100 discs for all your Phish and Dead bootlegs.

Will? Vinyl has made a comeback. The sales of new vinyl records have increased every year over the past five years, and many new turntables, arms, and cartridges have been introduced. The vinyl record industry has no trouble selling their records for $20-40 each, because they produce quality merchandise that customers want to buy.
