I love David Warren but what I heard in the question period this morning in Parliament gives me a different take. The Brits will be with us.The media way overspun this.

time to 'go it alone'.
let the UN vote, then Bush can tell the world to get out of the way ( i.e. get out of Iraq)
then we can spend a week or two and do what needs to be done.

Like you I just watched on C-Span 2 the House of Commons and for the most part, they are with Blair. A friend of ours is visiting here from Britain right now and he's ex-military, very political. Says Blair has full support of British people (somewhere along the lines of 85% which gibes with an article I read on FR). Our media loves controversy and to gin up trouble for President Bush in terms of our allies going wobbly. Pure BS.

So much of what I'm reading in the press these days is just BLATANT propaganda.

I'm not sure what, exactly, we are trying to salvage at the U.N. If we need to be counted the only nation with the cajunas to disarm Saddam, then so be it.

I just hope FR doesn't break out in hives again today!

I feel sorry for Mr Blair. Leading a country of short-sighted sheep, while trying to do the right thing.

He is wobbling. and yes i saw him live on fox this a.m. WE are willing to go without the UN. HE IS NOT. the war might be over by now if not waiting on his cover. is it really that important? he is a funny likeable guy.

I agree with you. However, if Blair does go wobbly at this point, I would not criticize him too much. He has been stalwart to this point, much more so than I ever would have anticipated from him.

Blair was just on live on Fox with PM question time. Two quotes:
" We must do this because it is the right thing to do."
"When we embarked on going to the UN, I said that it must be a way to solve the problem, NOT a way to avoid it."
Didn't sound wobbly to me!

He is leading a country rapidly becoming islamicised and with a disarmed populace. The demographics are moving against him and this may well be the last major British support for US action.

I was surprised and heartened from the beginning that there was support coming from Britain--"A Brit's still a Brit, for a' that." Surprised because there's so little of the Real England left, the England of Tolkein and Churchill.
I can't hold anything against Blair, no matter what he ends up doing. It's clear he made a heroic effort at the right thing...it all comes down to how much of England is still England.
