Jesse Hardy is a 100% Disabled Vet who is about to make history and set the wrong precedent as the first homesteader to ever have his land confiscated by eminent domain. All because our state is being overrun with green-goons who would probably just as soon shoot him to save a turtle. Jeb is so far sympathetic to his cause, and is really looking at this hard. PLEASE HELP. Here is your chance to really make a difference FReepers. Jeb knows us well and values our input. (He personally thanked Free Republic after the election).
Urgent!: Please Contact Governor Bush before the March 13 hearing: email: jeb.bush@myflorida.com Phone: 850-488-4441 Fax: 850-487-0801 |

Also, our idiotic and pathetic new local radio host (who shows contempt for veterans in general) has
mocked Jesse on the air. Kid you not, we have audio clips on
the site. We're going after him full force and have intiated a boycott.
For a sponsor list and more info on the boycott and Jesse Hardy, go to www.pracfl.org.

The 67-year-old Florida native homesteaded the rustic property in 1976. Using propane and a gas-powered generator, he lives in a tiny wood frame home with his seven-year-old son. Despite talk of offers of up to $5 million, Hardy says he has no plans to sell his property for any price. I dont care how old I am. Take the $4 million, keep 1 million, give the 3 million left over to the Southern Baptist Missionary organization... Egads...would they allow my money to be used that way? < /sarcasm>

If someone offered me $1M, I would throw the kids out and they could have everything.

Wasn't this guy offered several million dollars for the property? "This guy" is digging four catfish ponds for future community use. The county takes fill out for $1 per yard. They take several thousand yards out a week from his 160 acres. Do the math, if you're capable.
And no he wasn't offered "several million". TonyWojo and I visited him personally and the highest offer he received was 1.2 million. We saw the paperwork.
Any other useless, unhelpful or loaded questions?

If you guys would take a second to email/fax/call Jeb (he does listen)it would be a huge help. He's thinking hard on this and your input would make a huge difference.

I think this guy is just to the age to be a thorn in the strong arming govt. He is old and will be sypathized with because of his plight.
A: Maybe he is an old coot with brains willing to be a martyr for freedom...
B: Maybe he is confused by our society these days that govt is god and you shouldnt look at her wrong???
I would go A. Though, I would pack up and collect that cash and hand a large portion to a charity who believes 100% of the Bible. That would just be my poke at them for messing with me.

So he has been offered $1.2M for the property? And his child lives in squalor?
The pity party just ended.

Actually, he's quite bright and a golden guy to boot.
All he really wants is to stay on the property he's owned for 27 years and live in peace. He's even willing to let them go through with their junk science-inspired flooding of the area.
He's an innocent victim of the green mafia and Florida politics.

I might add here that WINK is one of the 600+ stations on the Rush Limbaugh network and the CBS-TV affiliate in that market has the same call letters.
Not every talk host on a Rush station is gracious or good-mannered. This appears to be one of those deals.(shakes head)

Despite talk of offers of up to $5 million, Hardy says he has no plans to sell his property for any price. After meeting with Mr. Hardy the 5 Million dollar offer is not a real offer. What Jesse showed me is an offer on paper of 1.7 million. That is roughly $10,625.00 an acre. Now if you check real estate values in the Naples area you will find that is well below average market value.
Not that the money should be an issue. If someone does not want to sell there property after living on it for 27 years they should not have to.

"My attorney asked me if there is any dollar amount I would take for my property. I told him, no,'" he says, "My attorney said, Don't be surprised if the Cabinet grants eminent domain.' He said it will be up to me to get the information to the governor to stop it." Time for a new lawyer. 'Pod

Nonetheless, it's hard to get worked up about it when granny down the road is getting booted because she can't pay her $500 tax bill and this guy is sitting on $1.7M offers.
