and those particular recess appointees can not be resubmitted again.

Recess appointments made now would last until the end of the 108th Congress or until they were confirmed whichever came first.... Well have you forgotten about Gregory? He was recess appointed by Clinton and renominated by Bush and then confirmed. Where is the rule, law that says they can't be renominated or recess appointed a 2nd time?

This is what I call a Coup by the Communists. What else can you call it?

If the Dems continue to make the ballot box meaningless with tactics like this, the blatent election theft in South Dakota, the attempted theft of Florida and the Presidency .... bad things lie ahead.

These idiots need to be waken up! This is not a game and there are consequences, some times unintended, for acting out like this.

The Rs need to get some spine. They should consider changing the rules that allow fillibuster, if they can.

I agree. They can't be Mr. Nice Guy now. Not with this situation. If, they are this country is gone.

If, we thought Clinton was bad, we haven't seen nothing compared to what is taking place, if the Dems pull it off. They very well could with the media's help.

I got two words for ya...Recess Appointments. The Dems stalling and obstructing we be laid bare for all to see and Bush can then recess appoint the judges he wants without much political fallout.

Although I agree with your sentiment, I have to object to your use of the word "white trash".

I have worked with people who, just because they lived in trailer parks, are called "white trash". I have known people, because their relatives live in the mountains, are called "hillbillies" "rednecks" or "white trash". These people may or may not vote conservative, I don't know, but I guarantee you, they were all better human beings than William Jefferson Clinton.

As conservatives, it is incredibly important that we realize that we need all votes, not only those of groups we come from ourselves.

If you look at the numbers of the anti-war protests, you will notice the reason these people get so many people showing up is because they have the uncanny knack of getting completely different focus groups to join together, even though many of those groups are natural enemies such as the anarchists vs. the authoritarian socialists. Granted, although its always easier to get people to gather to oppose something, its still a lesson to be learned.

If in our quest to get more votes, or more marchers in our cause, it is necessary to realize that a "trailer park assoication group" that is willing to vote Republican is more important than any group of suburban soccer moms who have swallowed the Demon-crat kool-aid.

This extraordinary design, without precedent in two centuries of judicial nominations, was launched January 30 in the office of Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. Present were Assistant Leader Harry Reid and six Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats. With all pledged to secrecy, the fateful decision was made to filibuster Estrada's nomination.

That was only the beginning. One Judiciary Committee member there was Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Senate's 71-year-old liberal lion. In private conversations with Daschle and in Democratic caucuses, Kennedy has pressed a plan to prevent President Bush from putting his ideological stamp on the federal bench. As Republicans returned this week from recess, they had no immediate response to this threat.

Internal Senate sources depict a Senate minority on an audacious mission. Rare use of the filibuster to keep a judicial nominee off the bench is only the tip of the iceberg. Multiple filibusters would generate the first full-scale effort in American history to prevent a president from picking the federal judges he wants.

At the January 30 meeting in Daschle's office, the eight senators agreeing to filibuster the Estrada nomination did not discuss his merits or demerits as a nominee for the District of Columbia appeals court, second in importance only to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Rather, the objections to Estrada were political and procedural. His confirmation, they agreed, would set a precedent that appellate nominees need not answer detailed questions and would make it hard to stop him as a possible future Supreme Court nominee. The senators talked about slowing down a Bush "assembly line" of conservative nominees and cited support from an energized Democratic base.

Dear President Bush,
With the Surpeme Court session getting ready to close, it may well be time for perhaps the most important domestic decision of your presidency: the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice(s). The main reason why I supported you in 2000 and why I wanted Daschle out of power in 02 (and 04) has to do with the courts. I want America courts to interpret law, not write law. During your presidential campaign you said Thomas and Scalia were your two model justices. Those are excellent models. The High Court needs more like them. Clarence Thomas recently said to students that the tough cases were when what he wanted to do was different from what the law said. And he goes by the law. This should be a model philosophy for our justices. Your father, President Bush lost his reelection campaign for 3 main reasosn, as far as I can see. 1. he broke the no new taxes pledge 2. David Souter 3. Clinton convinced people we were in a Bush recession (which we had already come out of by the time Clinton was getting sworn in)

I urge you to learn from all three of these: 1. on taxes, you're doing great. Awesome job on the tax cut. 2. good job so far on judicial appointments. I want to see more of a fight for Estrada, Owen, and Pickering, but I commend you on your nominations. 3. by staying engaged in the economic debate you'll serve yourself well

I have been thoroughly impressed with your handling of al Queida, Iraq, and terrorism. You have inspired confidence and have shown great leadership.

But I want to remind you that your Supreme Court pick(s) will be with us LONG after you have departed office. I urge you to avoid the tempation to find a "compromise" pick. Go for a Scalia or Thomas. Don't go for an O'Connor or Kennedy. To be specific, get someone who is pro-life. Roe v Wade is one of the worst court decisions I know of, and it's the perfect example of unrestrained judicial power.

I know the temptation will be tremendous on you to nominate a moderate. But remember who your true supporters are. I am not a important leader or politician. I am "simply" a citizen who has been an enthusiatic supporter of you. I am willing to accept compromise in many areas of government but I will watch your Court nomiantions extremely closely. What the Senate Dems are doing right now is disgusting, but as the President you have the bully pulpit to stop it. Democrats will back down if you turn up serious heat on them.

Moreover, I think public opinion is shifting towards the pro-life position. Dems will want you to nominate a moderate, but almost all will vote against you anyways. Pro-choice Repubs will likely still vote for you if you nominate a Scalia, after all, you campaigned on it. So Mr. President, I urge you to stick with your campaign statements and nominate justices who believe in judicial restraint, like Scalia and Thomas.

Happy Memorial Day and may God bless you and your family.
