Possibly. Unless we know they don't have enough nukes to matter and/or they do it on their own soil.
There are ways to complicate it sufficiently for a delay in which China would step in to "broker" a deal.
I think Hegele mentioned the basic process.......

if he doesn't retaliate It wouldn't just be the election prospects. It would go much deeper. America would retaliate immediately and overwhelmingly. Whether it involves other parties in WW III is up to the other parties.

Yes of course, more important than election. I'm just thinking ahead to some of the calculating that will happen from the politicos.... can you imagine how bad the lefties will get here?
We'll have to arrest a lot of them.
IMHO, The Russians and Chinese will sit it out.
There will be a LOT of screaming people all over the world. But no one will dare call our bluff after we just eradicated a nation.
They can posture and bluster all they want. But if a nation dares to use nukes against us, they deserve what they get...

In the scheme of things, I see a nuclear wipeout of NK as a contained event. I do not see it spilling off into a world war.
