Since its not from the Oval Office, it's not the big one, at least according to what I have heard repeatedly from the networks. Maybe he could surprise us all with an Estrada-related conference.

Front page story of The Irish Times this morning:
Bush may give final weapons ultimatum to Saddam
President Bush is considering an address to the US nation next week giving Saddam Hussein a short-term ultimatum to disarm or face war, according to White House officials.
Looks like they were right, this must be it.

Probably to lobby for the UN to do the right thing, and lay out in no uncertain terms that they are voting on their future (the UN's)
Or could be War.

My sister called me (I'm at work) and said that the news on TV is saying that they think they may have pin-pointed the location of OBL. Is this true? If it is, this could be the subject of the announcment tonight.

Bush to Hold News Conference at 8 p.m. EST as Iraq Crisis Looms By Heidi Przybyla and Holly Rosenkrantz
Washington, March 6 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush scheduled a formal White House news conference tonight as his administration struggles to muster United Nations support for military action to force Iraq to disarm.
Bush will open the 8 p.m. East Room news conference with a statement about successes in the war against terrorism and the importance of disarming Saddam Hussein, spokesman Ari Fleischer said. Bush hasn't made a final decision to use force, he said.
The news conference is an ``opportunity for people to ask questions of the president, and the president to discuss what's on his mind,'' Fleischer said.
China is the latest member of the UN Security Council to say it opposes a new resolution on disarming Iraq through military action. The move increases the likelihood that a U.S.-U.K. resolution would be vetoed, thereby making it tougher for the two countries to attack Iraq with the support of other nations.
Russia and France, like China, also have vetoes on the UN Security Council and they signaled yesterday they may use them to block the U.S.-backed resolution.
``The resolution is a matter of consultation with our allies,'' Fleischer told reporters. ``It's not written in stone.''
The U.S. and U.K. need the support of nine out of 15 Security Council members to pass their resolution. They have deployed 255,000 troops in the Persian Gulf ready to take action against Iraq.

The whole Iraq situation is a case where I wish Bush had listened to Teddy Roosevelt: "Speak softly and carry a big stick." He should have spoken to the world and the UN in the mildest, most conciliatory tones, all the while building up US forces around Iraq. Then, after striking Iraq with everything we have, Bush should go on TV wringing his hands, expressing disappointment, and talking about how we are still hoping to achieve a peaceful settlement. Had he behaved so, most of this background noise from France, Germany, Russia, and the protestors could have simply been sidestepped - they would have had nothing to complain about.
We conservatives like to hear bellicose speeches, but Bush's advisors should have warned him to follow the Teddy Roosevelt path on Iraq and not play to the home crowd. Now he is going to have problems to deal with for years after the war ends.

Did he ask the Noetworks to carry the Conference?

"Bush may give final weapons ultimatum to Saddam"My apologies, but if I hear one more "final ultimatum", I will have a hard time taking anything he says seriesly anymore. It's not doing him or our military any good. They are better off not saying anything. He got trapped in this because of his desire to appease his enemies and now they are beating him over the head with it.
Give me an announcement that bombing has begun or make this an Estrada speech to prove your multi-tasking abilities, just no more "final ultimatums". I am an extremely patient person but somebody has got to sh*t or get off the pot.

Damn! I've gotta work and won't be able to watch any TV. (The inmates are the only ones who are allowed to know what's going on in the world!) I hope Helen Thomas is in the front row and that Bush slams her "big time". Make a good thread gang so I can catch up with it all when I get home tonight.
