Well if would probably help if we were talking about the same thing. SDI and the Patriot system or it's successor the Arrow system are competely different systems all together. SDI was based off of lasers. Now the only that comes close to it is the THEL system(Please correct me if i have the acyronm wrong). Now that is just starting to show some promise as a ground based system with very limited range. SDI at it's time was nothing more than a hoax.. well a dream rather. SDI can be developed.. that's how things are started.. as dreams.. but at the time it brought everyone to believe that SDI could be employed tomorrow.. this was obviously not the case.

My only fear is that the Iranians, knowing they are in the future, will get a lucky shot off and sink one of our carriers. If they do that, big IF, then all bets are off. Personally speaking, I like the Iranians more than the "Iraqis". The Persian people are more honorable than the camel jockeys who migrated from the Saudi desert and throughout the region.

SDI stands for Strategic Defense Initiative. It doesn't have to have satellite-based lasers. I don't think anyone really cares whether we destroy inbound missiles with lasers, other missiles, or with genetically-enhanced killer-dandelions. Just destroy them, and save millions of lives.

As for whether it can be done by lasers, I think you are short-changing the ingenuity of scientists and the budget of the military. If it can be done, and nothing in the science indicates it can't. Lasers are used today to do delicate and sensitive work on human flesh... and can also burn through several inches of solid steel... it's only a matter of time, really.

Exactly. Iran produces 100 times more oil energy than they need. There is no other reason for them to build nuke reactors except to build wmd aimed at destroyiing the great satan.

Promises of instilling "democracy" and Western values in Muslim nations never materialized in Kuwait, Bosnia, Albania, Kosovo or Afghanistan.

It will never happen in Iraq, either.

Instead of invading Iraq, the U.S. should start out by bombing and destroying the nuclear reactors and laboratories of North Korea and Iran — where the threat is far more severe than in Iraq.

Furthermore, the U.S. should push for regime change only in non-Muslim countries such as Russia, China and North Korea.

The farce of Muslim "democracy" in Iran (May 2001)
(All candidates in Iranian "elections" must be approved by a Supreme Islamic Council of terrorist ayatollahs)
