We also should remember the old adage: "You can always tell a fighter pilot, but you cannot tell him much!" LOL!

As a former Naval Intelligence Officer I can personally vouch for that statement.

Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!

Well, though it contains an element of truth re: fighter pilots specifically, in general, it applies to all pilots.

As in: "You can always tell a pilot, but you can never tell him or her much."

And, keep in mind, I am a pilot! LOL!

Watched his bio on A&E last week. Learned a lot of interesting stuff about him. Fascinating life.

"Under Ford, he was named the 13th secretary of defense, the youngest person to serve in that position in this country’s history."

And now he has the distinction of being the oldest person to ever hold the position.

He (Rumsfeld) was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois in 1962 and was re-elected in 1964, 1966 and 1968.

This is about the last time the Republican Party was any good here in Illinois.

I live in Illannoyed, and I didn't know Rummy was from here. At least I have this to put a smile on my face today.

Go Rummy!

He was also on the board of directors of ABB when it signed a $200 million contract with Pyongyang to deliver equipment and services for two nuclear power stations. This was in 2000. What a swell guy!

There are three excellent and non-tacky Rumsfeld fan/admirer sites on the web and are worth looking up. Am not sure I am allowed to put urls on these messages but two of the fan sites are on Yahoo groups and the other is on geocities.

And you call yourself a brown shoe? A bolter is what happens to an airplane when it misses all the arresting wires on a carrier landing. The pilot hits the gas and takes off again.

I did 9 years in tin-cans but my roommate at Department Head School was a zoomie. Can't shut those guys up. Listen to him and you would think that a catapault shot was better than sex.

I believe that if the pilot hasn't "hit the gas" before the wires, he's toast.

LOL!

We all had to convert to "Black Shoes" sometime in the 70's. And we could no longer wear those nifty ankle high boots, either.

Musta had (I forget who he was - Zumwalt?) a Black Shoe in the CNO chair.

I think "Brown Shoes" and those nifty boots are legal again.

A pucker factor caused unintentional touch and go landing on a large, grey floating bird farm, generally occurring at night when there is no bingo field and no gas in the air!
