I treasure the memory of walking about Valley Forge. I dropped a bundle in the gift shop buying books and figurines.

I know. For me, going to Valley Forge was like a pilgrimage. I wish their gift shop was online - there's one particular item I should have gotten while I was there and regret not having bought at the time.

I just talked to a cop friend of mine that has been hired for security for Sunday at Valley Forge. Apparently, they have decided to hire security for the event because there are flyers circulating about an Anti-war rally to happen sometime on Sunday, somewhere in Phoenixville or Pottstown. I wish I knew more, but I'm just relaying what I heard.

I'm glad the organizers are being smart about security.

I rec'd this email from WPHT 1210 today concerning the parking at the rally. FYI

An alternative parking plan has been crafted so everyone will have an easier time getting to and from the Rally for America. Parking will be at the American Baptist Conference Center and the Freedom Business Center located at the intersection of Gulph Road & First Avenue in King of Prussia, PA. (Near the Valley Forge Convention Center). Just follow the signs. Shuttle service will be provided from there to the Freedoms Foundation.


From Pennsylvania Turnpike Depart the turnpike at Exit 24 (King of Prussia-Valley Forge). After the toll take the first immediate right exit, "Valley Forge National Historical Park." Make a right at the third light into the parking areas. The shuttle buses will then take you to the Freedoms Foundation.

From I-95 and I -76 From I-95 take Route 676 West (Vine Street). This exit is located near Benjamin Franklin Bridge or Center City Philadelphia. Stay on Route 676 turns into Route 76 West. Take this highway for approximately 18 miles. Take the Mall Blvd. Exit (last exit before the Turnpike). Make a right onto Gulph Road at the light near Chris Ruth Steak House. Follow Gulph Road and signage. At the 4th light make a right into the parking areas. The shuttle buses will then take you to the Freedoms Foundation.

That anti-war thing is down the road and WILL NOT be at this rally. They way it's set up at Freedom's Foundation I doubt they'd even get near the place if they tried.

Don't worry, the police are there to protect you from the violent peace protesters.

Hell, even the Million Moms had 5 of their folks arrested in DC that day. TWO for inciting to riot. I saw the US Capitol Police grab them. A couple of shirtless morons on mountain bikes with cosmetic bullet wounds on their back and chest, foaming at the mouth. The US Park Police and Metro officers warned them extensively, but it didn't take. Mutt and Jeff went across the intersection to USCP territory and revived their duet, upon which time two officers just lifted them off their bikes. Didn't hurt them, but took physical command of them and let them know that the show was over and there would be an encore.
