Although Turkish officials say they plan only to protect Kurdistan's Turkmen minority and prevent a flood of refugees entering Turkey,

Good grief! I am so tired on hearing this BS.

I may get in trouble for this but Powel is not to well thought of in the Pro-Israeli lobby groups. Turkey is vital to Israel so those backers of the alliance may be trying to deflect the blame from Turkey to Powell.

That Stes failed to bring on board Trkey is correct but that Turkey allowed it to fail is also correct.

If you have a familiarity with the markets, you will also note that until today, the Istanbul exchange has been in a bull market.

Since market are forward looking, and take into consideration the economic damage assessment of war with Iraq, it is notable that the market sees no such damage.

In fact, the Turkish markets see nothing but improvements.

We are being conned.

You do not ask for a payment on damages until AFTER the damage assesment is done.

I don't know why we don't let the Kurds form their own country; if we don't, and if we occupy Iraq for several years, then instead of the Kurds fighting Saddam Hussein, they will be fighting us. Do we want or need that?
