This war is getting to be like the movie "Mad, Mad, Mad World" (title?). All participants will be in a mad dash to get part of the spoils stumbling all over each other.

President Reagan said so clearly "TRUST BUT VERIFY". What will be interesting is if the Russians will protect France and Germany's interest or sell them out like they have so many times before.

I believe the Russians will bring several countries around to how they vote on any future UNSC resolution. As compared to France, Russia has acted more shrewdly. Like it or not, Putin is negotiating from a position of strength - and the US knows it. Expect to see US and Russian "cooperation" in regards to Iraq, while France just sits in the corner, mumbling.

I agree completely with the above.

That is a good title.

Amazing how the world does appear to have gone mad.

These leaders are like junkies fighting to keep in touch with their dealer. No wonder Saddam sees himself as King Nebuchadnezzar, he doesn't need much of a standing army, the world leaders protecting him.

Actually, I don't see Russia negotiating anything.

I see Russia playing the shrewd position very well, however, Putin has been playing hide and seek, and while France and Germany have been willing to take the media coverage of being obstructionist, who slips in and out of the picture while traveling the world making and cementing deals.

Russia to US is like an bullying big brother who would sell his own mother to make a dollar. Russia has a history of deal making that is never intended to keep, just buy some time.
