Frankly, the ChiCom navy has few large ships. They have a few dozen destroyers. Why waste a TASM against a 1960's frigate when a Harpoon will do.

One Harpoon would kill a ChiCom destroyer (I've been on one). They have NO significant firefighting gear, and lots of watertight doors weren't even close to having any integrity.

I never said they were survivable. Then again, how survivable are our AEW and AWACS?

Our doctrine doesn't require them to trail their coats right past the ChiCom's noses. Using TU-95s and IL-76s as scouting assets for naval warfare requires them to emit right next to the battlegroup.

China is a growing threat.

China is Enron with nuclear weapons. By the time they'd be ready to play, their economy will have imploded.
