At just about 10 PM on Friday night, about 17,000. About 18 hours after first posting. They were hoping to get a few thousand by next week. I'm hoping at least 50-75 thousand. I'm hoping I'm being way conservative and it's overwhelming.
I'm so sick of the Hollyhood A**holes. Let's shut their pieholes!

How do we get this thread back to the top of Breaking News? Ask the Mods very nicely (not that I am necessarily asking in the ping to the Mods; after all, it's not quite my thread even if the petition is in my name :-) and they'll consider it. Usually, the sticky stuff is only applied to FR-specific stuff like the "Loose Lips" threads, FReeper cruise threads, FReepathon threads and the like, so don't be terribly disappointed if they don't apply it to this.
17,806 signatures and climbing BTTT, in any case.

Bump to top.
Sidebar Moderator and Admin Mod, can we possible get this put back in the sidebar for breaking news?
It would be a great time for Freepers to print off this petition, and get friends and families to sign it this weekend.
Thank you Freepers, keep up the good work.

I second the motion...please keep this petiton alive this weekend so we freepers can show America and our fine men and women in uniform that they are admired, respected, and truly heroes in our minds, and they are serving in our name!

Motion carried. Thanks Mods.
Pinging John for an eventual look at why an item doesn't appear in more than one topic sidebar at a time (in this case, this doesn't appear in Breaking News if one subscribes to US:Wisconsin, but does appear in Breaking News if one does not subscribe to US:Wisconsin). Admin/Sidebar, you may want to note this glitch as well if you're not already aware of it.

Freeped!
I received an e-mail today titled "signature against the war" with the following message:
The US is about to dictate that a war take place. We are currently undergoing a worldwide imbalance that could [at worst] lead to a third world war.
If you are also against this threat, the UN is now collecting signatures to try to prevent this tragedy.
Please copy this e-mail into a new one, add your name to the end, and send it to everyone you know. If you receive the list with more than 600 names please send a copy to: unicwash@unicwash.org
I don't know if the UN could actually be doing this, but the UN's Information Center website is unicwash.org...
Does anyone know if the UN can promote this legally?

The sidebar is optimized to show an article only once regardless of the number of topics used in the article. If I remember correctly, the upper most sidebar is filled first, and then so on, skipping over any duplicating article in any sidebar topic.
