Our biggest problem is trying to come up with someone who can not only match Boxer the Bitch in bucks, but in bravado. You've nailed it. My hope is that 34 will somehow work it's magic (as in $34Bill in debt). Nothing more detrimental to an econonmy over the long term than an overspent socialist state. As a private sector contractor I hope it hurts. I hope that it causes public sector soup lines. F*ck 'em and their phony Utopia. Reality hurts sometimes and Boxer should reap the whirlwind.
What's needed is a senator who recognizes the difference between what a government should do and what it is currently doing. Until then, we can expect more of the same: politicians protecting their voter bases. And their bases care about limited government how? A crucial difference that should define the two major parties but sadly will not. I see taxes going up.

I am in Ose district, and when it was re districted for the 02 elections, it went from being a swing district with a slight GOP lean to a more solidly GOP district. It voted for Bush by a 15 point margin in 00, and the GOP should have no problems holding on to it.

It went Co-ed in the late seventies, is now Claremont McKenna College. I think you are referring to the Claremont Institute which is not officially affiliated with the Claremont Colleges but was founded by former students of former CMC professor Harry Jaffa.

Thanks for the info. I was unaware that Ose's district had become more Republican thru redistricting. I only new that he was the first Republican in a long time to serve that particular district and just figured that it would surely end up in Democratic hands if he ran for a different office. Bottomline, we need someone with the cajones to stand up to Boxer and send her packing. She more or less tippifies everything that I find offensive and wrong about liberals and their stranglehold on the Democratic Party. With the exception of Chuck Schumer, she is #1 on my wish list of Democrats I would like to see forced into retirement and I have a feeling that Republicans in the state of California will honestly try with everything in their power in 2004 to get rid of Boxer for the good of their state and the country.

You mean appeal to the moderate and leftist wings of the GOP. Well, honestly I meant what I said. For a Republican to win in California they must appeal to conservatives and moderates. I believe that is difficult but possible.
I'm not going to put my head in the sand and demand that California either elect a Jesse Helms clone or else re-elect Barbara Boxer. I don't really want to see another lost chance at turning the Democratic tide in California like Simon's run for governor turned out to be against an unpopular incumbent governor.
California just plain will not elect a right-winger to the Senate. I don't want to see a liberal Republican elected to the Senate either. I think that somewith with the ideology of a Sen. Mike DeWine (R-OH) could be elected though. Someone conservative enough to contrast with Boxer but not someone able to be labeled an extremist.

Claremont Institute - that's it! Yeah, my younger brother attended Claremont Men's College as an undergrad, around the time it became McKenna.
Point being, B.H. was associtated with the Institute. I understand he's also doing something with Pepperdine too. He's a wonderful, entertaining speaker, if you ever get the chance to attend a lecture or see him on T.V.

Of course, some are content to live in third or fourth world splendor. If a destroyed economy would wake people up, then frauds like Maxine "Muddy" Waters and John Conyers would've been defeated long ago. Conyers, of Detroit, I believe has the distinction (in his 38 years in Congress) of having had more people flee (literally) out of his seat than any other district in the US., something on the order of half a million+. Nope, certain folks won't vote 'em out, those that can will simply MOVE out. Looks like Upton Sinclair's vision for CA has finally arrived... Enjoy it California.

Well, as I said before, you're going to have to find a truly dynamic individual to take that bitch down, that's assuming they even want to navigate the minefield in the CA GOP. I should say that "Conservatives" are generally ignored in the state, and the fight is between the business moderates and the Parsky/Firestone-left, and both of whom utterly ignore the grassroots. The state GOP is in such shambles, I just don't know where to begin to address the problems. But one thing is for damn sure, Parsky needs to be run out of CA on a rail before he ruins a potential opening with a recall and special election, since we know he's just waiting in the wings to foist that Tricky Dick Riordan fraud on the state again. CA ain't in that bad a shape we'd risk completely destroying everything that remains of the state GOP to put that RINO scum in.

Dennis Prager is the man. Unfortunately he's Gerry Parsky's man.

1) Doug Ose is a so-called "moderate" who is really a liberal in sheep's clothing (not that I'd vote for a "moderate" anyway). Ose is a spoiled rich kid who entered the congressional race late in 1998 and ran against a solid conservative who had served for 5 years in the State Assembly. You hear about how much the Republican Party wants to recruit women, yada yada, but not CONSERVATIVE women like Barbara Alby. Ose spent over a million to defeat her.
2) Maureen Reagan was a liberal Republican; Michael Reagan is a conservative Republican. There IS a difference.
3) I still like Simon. He was lied about and villified. The court case he won was barely mentioned in the press, but the accusation was mentioned constantly (it doesn't matter if you're innocent, if you were accused you must be guilty, right?) Simon's team made some mistakes on the campaign, and I think (hope, pray) they learned from them. Most important, if Simon goes back to the people who won his PRIMARY so successfully and dump the people who jumped on board AFTER he was a winner, I think Simon can handily win.
4) Praeger would be interesting. But if we think Simon was villified with little record to run on, think about what they would do with Praeger. I'm sure he's spoken off the cuff or misspoke during his career.
5) As for the other conservatives ... Issa, Radanovich, etc ... I think it's wait and see. Congressmen usually don't fare well, limited name ID, limited money, and limited appeal outside their region. As for the other candidates ... I know little about them.

When Bruce lost to Boxer in 1992, so went the GOP in the once GOlden State.Herschensohn BARELY lost in the worst Republican year in more than a decade. Two years later, we gained seats in both houses of the Legislature and in Congress ... and the Assembly had the majority for the first time in 2 decades.
It'd be hard to get the majority with the liberal Democrat gerrymandering, but we have gains to make, particularly in the Central Valley.

Why is Boxer filibustering Estrada...She must be defeated!
FREEPers, I have created the ultimate Estrada activism thread. On it you will find ways to contact Senators, newsspapers, radio/tv people, organizations etc. Go there and help support Estrada. Keep the thread bumped until we get him confirmed.
