Do you actually know anyone who was raised under the current foster care system?

Yes. He has a successful business and a large family.

The few I know have extreme difficulty forming stable relationships.

Basing your opinion on anecdotal evidence, like Dean Wormer says, is no way to go through life, son.

Their early lives are too filled with being moved from here to there, family to family to trust in a long term relationship.

Agreed, it’s an imperfect system and abuse is going to happen anyway but there’s no reason to compound the trauma by putting them in the hands of people who objectively don’t understand right and wrong behavior.

They didn't solve that problem by taking the orphans down to the local house of prostitutuion, either. Even though the ladies would be caring and kind. Today -- no one starves, goes naked or homeless in the US except by choice or madness -- that's the truth!

I know a few -- a few dozen maybe, more -- of foster families and kids therein -- a mom and dad, too. Wonderful kids, in good families. You seem to be asserting that finding such wonderful families is impossible. Again, even a well-run institution is preferred to a household of thieves.

Yes I am black.

Ignoring the data you see with your own lyin' eyes isn't all that great either, kiddo.

Sorry, can't use that data, Clint N. Suhks says it's anecdotal...

;^)

I didn’t say “ignore” it, the sad part is that there is a disproportionate percentage of foster children in this countries prison population, “ignoring” that the ideal foster situation is NOT with people who practice perversion is where you turn a blind eye. And basing your opinion on anecdotal “data” is juvenile.

And are sacred programs you racist filth! ;^) You are correct...I am typing with my hairshirt on even now for DARING to question or suggest!:]

I am sure other posters have noted and probably better than I have that those who attack marriage and argue that its just based on Christianity and is therefore to be ignored because everyone is not a Christian have it bassackwards. The protections for women and children were developed over long periods of time and were embodied in various religions to make them powerful.[Yeah, not everyone followed it but it was still a goal with a moral imperative.]

Yes. Maybe it's time to try something else.

“ignoring” that the ideal foster situation is NOT with people who practice perversion is where you turn a blind eye.

I don't have starry eyes about the ideal hetrosexual two parent family. These also seem to have far too many instances of physical, emotional, sexual and finacial abuse.

Actually we were originally discussing one member of the "couple" being a "natural" parent, that segued into the permanent situation of adoption, and was contrasted with being bounced from temporary family to temporary institution and back again.

I believe a permanent stable family is better than constant uprooting, even if the family is a little (or a lot) odd.

My father was a career Marine, and we could count on being uprooted just about the time my friendships would solidify. I still find it hard to let anyone get too close.

I am loathe to even try to imagine what it is like for someone who was not only jerked from school to school, neighborhood to neighborhood, and city to city, but didn't even have the relative stability of keeping the same set of parents!
