I have this fantasy about organizing something huge---maybe in D.C. and getting people from all over the country to attend.

Better yet, how about 100 FReepers and bretheren in 100 cities across the USA! Think of all the local coverage we could get not to mention national!

Here's a quote from Blair about Saddam and the anti-war marchers:

But as you watch your TV pictures of the march, ponder this: If there are 500,000 on that march, that is still less than the number of people whose deaths Saddam has been responsible for. If there are one million, that is still less than the number of people who died in the wars he started.

Hi Dave/freechina, at least they wrote a story giving FR more than 2 sentences of coverage. The quotes they attributed you you are great. Next time, just wrap your criticism in praise: "Thanks for the story, but please note that we are less right-wing than ANSWER is left-wing..." etc. The praise tends to soften them up and make them more receptive to what follows! :-)

Thanks for this good advice. Maybe you can do a training on media relations and media interaction in the future.

I wrote to the MCI customer service department, voicing an objection to their use of Danny Glover, and here's their reply:

Thank you for contacting MCI ® e-Customer Service. We sincerely value your opinion. Just like any other citizen, Mr. Glover is entitled to express his own personal views and opinions. But please understand, Mr. Glover's personal views are his own and do not represent the views of MCI. As has always been our policy, MCI does not comment or take positions on social and/or socio-political issues and views. MCI does proudly contribute to a variety of local, state and national charities which help build and strengthen communities. More specifically, the MCI WorldCom Foundation focuses on proactively supporting a core of education and technology initiatives by forming partnerships with selected non-profit organizations around the country.

To wit, I reminded them in my reply that KMart initally took that position about Rosie's big mouth...but now, she's history, and most KMarts are closed down. Glover was hired to be their spokesperson, their image, their representative. And, as perception IS reality, we can only assume - despite their claim to the contrary - that MCI feels the same way about our President and our Country, as does Mr. Glover.

If a person hired, say, Charlie Manson, to do PR work, what do you suppose would be the image portrayed by such an arrangement. All I have to say is, Mr. Glover would be best advised to shut up...I don't think they're going to make anymore "Lethal Weapon sequels anytime soon. 'nuff sed
