The savages are in power, the people live in terror.... The Iraqi people are probably the most western friendly of any muslim country.

'So if we attack Iraq, they will attack themselves?'
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
That's right - 'Don't shoot or I'll kill myself!'

Our primary problem is that our armour can't go fast enough to keep up with the wave of surrender that will sweep across Iraq ahead of them.

My guess is that this is propaganda from our side, directed at the Iraqis. They need to understand that the faster they get rid of Saddam and his henchmen, the better the future of Iraq.

The New York Times understands military strategy as well as 90 year-olds screw.

Rule #7. Never try to refight the last war. The Frogs depended on WWI-era in 1940. Sorry.

We expected to win with WWII style tactics in RVN. Sorry.

The more the Iraqis build bumbers, etc, the more they become fixed targets for GPS precision munitions. Please, let them dig. Single bunkers and fighting positions would have worked better last time, but not this time. Now, when you dig without aur superiority or overhead visual cover, you dig your own grave.

The soldiers who threw up their hands in '91 did so after fighting Iran to a standstill. Mass surender was something new to them. This Iraqi army does not have to learn about surrendering. Their friends already have told them how we provided 3 hots and a cot.

There will be a lot of vertical envelopment in this war. Many forget that in 91, the 101st moved the entire division 100+ kilometers into Iraq, set up along the river and prevented Saddam from counterattacking, all without ever being shot at once. They simply air assaulted in.

Finally. In Iraq, on D-1, nothing will "work" SF, SAS, SBS, SEALS, RASAS and all the rest of the Usual Suspects have teams already in Iraq, charting everything. On D-1, all the bombs in the world fall on the Iraqi's heads.

Out in the desert, where the Army is dug in, it will work like Afghanistan. BUFFs as TACAIR. B-52s flying lazy circles in the sky, dropping 500 BLUs one at a time, onto uplinked GPS targets.

Our biggest asset? Time. We had time to play with the toys to get them ready, run lots of sand table exercises, train and brief the troops, etc.

The Iraqi Army has two choices. Surrender or die for Saddam.... and they are not stupid.

What if we land troops behind his defenses? Between his 'dispersed army and Bagdad? I don't think the Iraqui army ever makes it to Bagdad, think the highway of death. We shread them when the move.

BTW, think we might have some satellites looking at when their supplies were being staged?

Saddam Hussein's administration has developed plans to blow up dams, destroy bridges and ignite its oil fields,

In further reports, Iraq's elite Republican Guard has been perfecting it's hand to hand combat techniques, which includes lessons on slamming their faces into the fists of their attackers and smashing their groins against their knees.

This strategy is being taught by Aliwoody Abdu Allen.

I mean all this about positioning this here and that there.
Perhaps Saddam should talk to his cheese eating surrender monkey friends about the wisdom of fixed emplacements;that given, does he think he can manuver? No chance in hell. The fixed stuff goes out in two days, after that it will be a game surrounding the major cities using the civilians as the bargining chips through the media. It will be a pixel-popping feeding frenzy of coverage of who can show the worst the quickest! The media will be orgasmic. BTW 5 will get you 10; guess where all of the human shield's will wind up? Hint; they have microphones and big satellite dishes (more better to tell your personal harrowing nightmare at the hands of the American led slaughter of the peaceful people of Iraq for their oil).

Afterthought, if he goes all out with gas or biologics, then there won't be much of any information coming out of there. It will get real brutal real fast; I think saddam will try his best to provoke this. He has to remain on the world stage to survive.
