You mean abandoning the popular election of Senators? Won't happen, and even if it did, I am not sure it would change much, except that the stakes of gerrymandering state legislatures would be increased. The only worse idea in that regard is allocating electoral votes by CD district. That one is really, really crazy.

A recess appointment, at this point, would look like cowardice on the part of the Bush administration. No. Make the Democrats shut down the government. I just wonder if the GOP has the guts to do it. Yes, we discussed that. I am told the West Wing wants a war on Estrada, but he says this is impossible on the threshold of a real war in Iraq. The most preferable course is a speedy, clean resolution in Iraq, which would be followed by a muscling through of all nominees, who would then be able to steamroll through on the basis of Bush's enhanced power. The idea is that the GOP needs only 6 more Dems to join them to kill any filibuster, and there are 12 of them up next year who are vulnerable and wont risk a fight with a re-invigorated President. If they do, we will make the last elections look like a draw.

Do you EVER plan to answer any of the question asked of you on this thread?
Where is your PROOF that Bush took YOUR advice?
And where is the URL of the thread that has those posts you pasted up there on them?
Produce or yet again be branded a fraud.

Just think who the California legislature would send to the senate. And of course, Alabama and Mississippi would send four Dems to the senate, rather than four Pubbies. Four more for the trial lawyers. But none of that matters. The idea at its core is nutzoid.

Never say never I always say!
The Seventeenth Amendment in giving Senators the power to by- pass state interests and pander to citizen constituency interests only heightens and hastens the march to socialism. Our nation has different interests as has been explained previously and to remain a republic we must have separate powers looking after those interests.
......
SNIP
The Senate members in all of their supposed wisdom do not understand their duties, much less the entire Constitution.
That is painfully obvious when they speak and write. Their duties are advice and consent with nothing more and nothing less. The word advice causes a bit of a problem but the definition of it is to give opinion and on that they fall short of understanding.
They think their duty is to dictate to the President what person is sent or who is not sent for consent. The duty they have is part of the balance to protect the Constitution, not an exercise in choosing those with the proper socialist ideology, which they favor.

They're coming to take me away, ha ha
They're coming to take me away, ho ho hee hee ha ha
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, ha haaa!
I have posted the FACTS, as requested by TLB, and he has not responded to ONE fact that I posted. As I said earlier, easier to whine about being attacked (the poor victim) than to to respond honestly.

Guys, I know there is a strategy behind all this. Just sit back and watch. These democrats are shooting themselves in the foot as they did in the last election. I feel this has been a strategy by the republicans all along because they knew what they would face when they put these nominations up again. Lott had to go and that was the best thing that happened.

in fact you posted on one of them Ah, I have NO idea where that post came from -- and wherever it came from, what does that have to do with YOU saying Bush took advice you personally gave him? Are you having trouble keeping up?
You know I have them and have already produced them before.
As I said, I don't believe you.
Link it if you have it; if you don't, I'll have to assume you're making it up. Again.

ALL -- Send the RATs back to their States and let the Hispanics get their shot at them.
LOL, Michael Barone just said the same thing at the end of Special Report. You are a step ahead, PKM
It would be nice if we could "communicate with" (FReep) Hispanics in their districs about Estrada.

Oh! how bright of you, I guess when Enron "LEGALLY" donated to the Bush Campaign 18 months ago, Bush should of turned it down just in case someday they went belly up?
Are you really that stupid? or are you just another pouting liberal who's drueling at the mouth thinking you have a scandal to pin on the President

"$3 billion Indian power plant deal that the Clinton administration brokered for Enron in 1996, and the $100,000 check that went to the Democratic Party when the deal was finally completed?"
Not only that! We tax payers have guaranteed about 500 million dollars of the loans to Enron through the Import Export Bank and IPEC
