My "New Posts To You" isn't working...It doesn't post new posts and won't clear to "My Comments" after viewing...it's like Ground Hog Day (the movie).
Is anyone else having this problem?
To: lewislynn
Yes. I also can't search for article titles. There is one I know is here and I searched for it, but it did not work. Perhaps that is why there is a lot of duplicates tonight.

Thanks, I feel better knowing it's not just me.

May I suggest:
- Put a link to the search page on the post page.
- Put a link to these search instructions on the search page.
Not everyone reads every post, nor do we remember all that we read forever. Put this stuff where it will actually be useful to the immediate task, and you should increase the portion of posts properly searched.

Thanks for posting. I've been having problems with the search function lately. For example the other day I typed in "valentine" and got several hits. None were the article I was posting so I went a head and posted it.
After it was up I spotted the same story in "breaking" or "front page" It was worded differently and that's why I missed it there the first time but "valentine" was in the title and a keyword so I would think the search should have found it.
Really it's not that big of a deal, but I've noticed an increase in this sort of thing.

Its amazing how many times I read a semi-obscure news item here, and the next afternoon/evening it's on one of the FNC shows. I'd bet money they have (a) staffer(s) monitoring FreeRepublic.
When you think about it, this site is one heckuva news collator/filter/correlator.

Let's hope it's configurable for either/or. I like being able to see if the threads I've posted to have seen a lot of other posts, even if none were in response to my post.

Someone posted this link, and I placed it on my profile page, but I changed the last numbers to mine. I only see the posts I've made, not those that posted to me. It works really nice. Try it, but change the number to your own freeper number, otherwise you'll see everything I posted!

Maybe you could do a tutorial on selecting TOPICS while you're at it. For example: "FREEPER alert!" does not usually consititute "BREAKING NEWS", whereas "World Trade Center Hit By Jet Plane" MIGHT be considered breaking news.
Just wondering how much FR internal spam needs to be sorted through before actually finding a NEWS story in the breaking news section...
I've said my piece.

Since it is easy to vote as many times as one has time to waste on such childish folly by deleting cookies and other such methods and is well known by anyone with above a double digit IQ that such are useless, it is suggested that "FREEP THIS POLL" posts be banned.

I've had threads pulled because they were duplicates and I search every single article I post. Likewise. Note that most wire service headlines are replaced with a locally generated one at most newspapers, so it's not at all uncommon for the original story from a newspaper, the wire service pickup of that story, and later partial or complete uses of that story in other papers or in magazines to contain identical or slightly redacted text, but with different headline's slugging the story.
Sometimes a writer's name will make that more evident, but though that bit of information is included in the article posting info, the FR search engine doesn't seem to be able to categorize that classification, or at least not as neatly as it does by article title. If that could be added it might not only make multiple posts of some of reports that are essentially identical less frequent, but could also allow searches for followup stories by the same writer, or series articles offering continuing coverage.
I have no idea how possible or difficult it might be to add such a capability to the search engine software, but figured the thought was worth mentioning.

You forgot to point out that in a search, one is not allowed to fondle. Expecially during a self search.
Fondling is only allowed during a frisk . . .
