What about the Lib rant the media is controlled by the VRWC?

Won't this be adding more fuel to the fire?

Or, is this just gonna confuse the left (even more)?

I hate when that happens.

Dear diary,

Today I listened to Sean Hannity...he's soooooo dreamy...
Then I listened to Paul Harvey...ended up listening through three commercial breaks 'cause he's so darned smooth in his transitions.

ROFL! If I'd been drinking coffee, I would have done a Danny Thomas Spit Take!

Dear Diary: Those darn actors never listen to me when I shout warnings at them through the TV screen! What's going on? My neighbors can hear me!

I will NOT be ignored!

(/end Fatal Attraction mode) :-)

What the hell are you talking about. Most people I know love Savage and many of these are ex-military. It is nice to see a guy with the guts to tell it like it is.

Well face it, you aren't very typical. Savage is likely to confirm all the Democrats efforts at painting conservatives as fire breathing, nuckle-dragging neanderthals.

Well these so-called "nuckle-dragging neanderthals" have made his book #1 for the 3rd week in row. What's up with that? Do only atypical conservatives read? I think not.

I agree. I cant take him for more than ten minutes at a time. He could be the downfall of the American Conservative movement.

Well, Michael Savage has the highest TSL (Time spent listening) in radio. More than anyone else--Rush, Stern, Mancow.

Radio ratings are the result of a combination of CUME, or cumulative audience, i.e., the total number of people who listen for at least five minutes per week, and TSL, or the amount of time each listener spends tuned in to a particular show or station.

Savage has the highest TSL in the biz. Translation: big-time listener loyalty. Appointment listening.

Most of the "I can't listen for more than 10 minutes at a time" types have just been sissified to such a degree that they aren't capable of handling such undiluted masculine straight talk.

It’s not the Savages of the world who present a threat to the conservative movement.

I respectfully submit that any would-be downfall of the American conservative movement will be at the hands of the mamby pamby wishy-washy can't-we-all-just-get-along types. It's been my observation that many good conservatives have been hoodwinked into a culture of compromise. We've been Trent Lottified, and I'm not talking about racial matters, rather, the surrender of our core values in the name of gentlemanly agreeability.

Conservatives in Congress have had an inferiority complex for so long, they fold faster than the Iraqi's in Desert Storm. They make the French look formidable. In the face of even the weakest opposition, they abandon all principle and demonstrate negotiation skills that would even get a snicker out of Homer Simpson.

I understand the importance of winning friends and influencing people, but there is no virtue in being liked--if being liked means betraying who you are and what you believe.

Of course it's important, even crucial, for any movement to be considered palatable by the largest possible constituency, that is...to be as mainstream and mass appeal as possible. And there's no question that Michael Savage's brand of conservatism is industrial strength and in-your-face; but I would argue that in a world where moral equivalency and situational ethics constitute the prevailing wisdom, the absolutes--the black and white lines of demarcation by which we define our positions and dare to assign judgment, i.e., good and evil--are desperately needed and truly longed for by many.

John Walker Lindh freely chose the structure and discipline of militant Islam, after years in his parent's permissive, anything-goes environment. It is a natural, human instinct to crave structure and absolutes.

Savage resonates with people from all demographic and socio-economic groups for a variety of reasons, but the conviction and certainty of his point of view--whether agreed with or not--is a big part of his appeal.

Most conservatives agree that moving the Democratic liberal agenda forward--or a Democrat-lite version--is not a win for the conservative movement. Yet, we turn around and castigate a guy who shoots from the hip and is willing to take the hits for the cause, when we should be championing him.

JMHO

No, but most normal people have jobs, families, and real lives. Apparently extreme nut-wings and kooks have a lot of free time on their hands. Reading Savage's or Buchannan's latest hate diatribe gives them a sense of purpose. It tells them that everyone else is wrong.

Savage is the equivalent of an Eric Alterman or some other leftist that takes everything to such an extreme that you can barely still see the original truth.

Besides his being an idiot and seemingly being proud of it, Savage gets on my nerves because he insists on SCREAMING ALL THE TIME!!!! The idiot is pissing in the wind.

Buchannan and Savage have nothing in common. I agree that Buchannan has gotten "nuttier"

I work for a military contractor (@50-60 hrs per week), and have read his book, like mnany of the people I work with. No matter your opinion, the man is popular. Are you joining the Boycott PSMNBC brigade over Savage? Your argument would fit right in at DU.

Well, I think my point has been proven.

You posted emotional hyperbole.

I responded with facts.

You responded with more empty rhetoric.

You don't have to like Savage. He's not for everyone. You have to have some intelligence to get it.

And what's with the Eric Alterman comparison? Eric Alterman? Total nobody. A ten-cent "journalist." Your point would have been better made using Noam Chomsky, Cornell West or another far left intellectual...but even then, they are more conspiracy theorists, while Savage is simply a well-educated, insightful thinker.

People who let Savage's abrasive exterior scare them away miss out on the wisdom he has to impart. But, evidently, the inside-the-box, ritalin takers feel more commmmmfortable in their safe little world.

If real passion and conviction scares the heck out of you...you ain't livin', my friend.

Eric Alterman was in the "news" here about the time I posted. A total nobody. Ok I can go with that. Savage is a somebody. Not to most people. I bet if you did a poll fewer than 15% would have any clue who the guy was. As far as Chomsky and Cornell West, are you implying that Savage is a PhD? If so, Im shocked.

Excuse me, but you must be the one on Ritalin. Only people on amphetamines are crazy enough to find his abrasive exterior appealing. Actually I would expect Savage to have a good audience among those manufacturing and marketing meth-amphetamine.

>MSNBC - a place where a range of voices have their say

Last year MSNBC hired Alan Keyes to bring conservative audience to the network but they succumbed to the pressure of Muslims, liberals and nuts like Dave S here (who seems to be poised to bring down Keyes' successor too) and replaced Keyes with this liberal lunatic Donahue claiming low rating.

As a result, while the rating roughly remained the same, about 400,000 viewers, the Donahue audience is the same they have regardless; while the Keyes audience, who scored very high on the likely consumer rating, left MSNBC completely. By hiring Savage MSNBC is trying to bring them back.
