>>>...Ballistic missles have guidence systems,do the scuds have these?

They do have some guidance. They launch close to virticle and then are guided by some kind of gyro system. They are not very accurate, but sometimes they hit. Remember when one hit an army building in the first gulf war?

Good analogy between the Iraqi Scud and the German V-2. Not too much change in technology in over 50 years.

Not to be underated however. In WWII, despite allied air superiority, the Germans managed to launch over 3,000 V-2 rockets at London, Brussels and Antwerp.

In Gulf War I, we also had a very hard time finding and stopping Scud launches. As in WWII these are more of a terror weapon rather than an effective tactical battlefield weapon. Adding a NBC warhead ups the ante quite a bit but it is still more of a political issue than a tactical problem.

Any Scuds encountered or suspected should be engaged right now. We are doing that and that is encouraging.

A great site for V-2 rocket info is http://www.V2rocket.com

They are still awaiting their orders from their socialist leaders in Russia. If we keep things moving fast they won't have time to translate.

Just wondering here: Has anyone hypothesized that we bombed this site to see if it had chemical/biological weapons? I would think that after we bombed this site, a UAV was close behind taking readings and video.

If we pick off a few at a time, we should be able to get a read on how psycho Saddam is likely to go.
