From
Ted Nugent to
show tunes to the
Marshall Tucker Band.
I didn't read them all, been busy at work...we had a little explosion the other day.
I'm sure you gave them your
usual treatment though.
Let me know if any noise is going to be made at the Mudcave Annex this weekend.

Hey CM,
Very inspirational and interesting post!
It's easy to see you've got a lot of passion for guitars and music.
CM: "What's with the show tunes? You guys are starting to scare me!"Heh, heh...sorry, I started that! LOL! Happy gal and I were discussing "Les Miserables." I told Happy gal that we needed an A.G. like the lawman 'Javert' in that musical, to go after klintoon, Happy gal suggested Mud was the man...
Next thing we know, Mud is offerin' to FReep the song: 'STARS', as sung by Javart the lawman. Mud, if ya' wanna sing it, I hope ya got some baritone pipes that go into the cellar! (But I'm guessin' Mud's more of a Ted Nugent crooner!)
Anyway, I have to confess I like 'em...it's the curse my ex-wife left me with. She forced me to go to 'em til I started to like them...now, I guess I'm kind of a sap!
I guess the music has to be heard live, in the production. Outside of the musical, the songs just sound hokey. Kind of like listening to a "live" album, unless you've been to the concert, the live recordings usually suck. (with a few notable exceptions, like, "Peter Frampton Live") Would you agree?
BTW, did you like any of The Who's music from "Tommie"?...heh,heh...
FRegards, FBD

Abraham Lincoln, "I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice on the Altar of Freedom."
MUd quote:"And to those of you who are losing heart in our ongoing battle against Tyranny and Injustice in our own Country, please remember the sacrifices our predecessors made...and realize that Bill Clinton is no match for the progeny of our honored forebears.
Yer a true patriot, Mud. Our forefathers would be proud of ya'. FRegards,

LP's are great guitars, although I never got into using them myself(they are too heavy to hang around my neck for 3 hours a night). Nothing beats a Les Paul through a Marshall 100 and a 4x12 cabinet for a classic rock sound. I'm a strat guy, but I use one of those deluxe or fat strat things(I don't know what the hell they call it). It's got a humbucker(for the big distortion sound) and two single coil pickups.
My wife got me a Martin for Christmas. It is an awesome sounding acoustic. I love it.
BTW. When I was a kid in the 70's MTB was HUGE on Long Island. I've seen them a dozen times. One of my favorite Southern rock bands! Gotta check out guitar.com.

Musicals are best seen live, no doubt.(I admit, I've seen a bunch)
Frampton's live record is one of the best albums of all time.(He's also one of the most under-rated guitar players in rock history)The Grateful Dead's Europe '72 is also a great live record, but most live records do suck.
Tommy is great and so is Quadrophenia, although my perception of the chin-ball wizard's music has changed somewhat recently, if you get my drift.;)

"...most live records do suck." Yep...most are just another way to fleece a band's hardcore fans fer some extra dolares, but I wouldn't trade Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused" (off "Song Remains the Same") for any other LIVE CD.

"...in the 70's MTB was HUGE on Long Island. I've seen them a dozen times. One of my favorite Southern rock bands!" I'm hearing more and more about the popularity of Southern Rock up in the Northeast, my FRiend, and I would love to focus our CosmicJustice efforts on a compilation of Skynyrd, ABB, MTB, the Outlaws, ZZ Top, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, etc. if that works fer you. Plus, whenever we get together, the fellas I play with love the multi-guitar sound and my voice works pretty well with the Ronnie Van Zandt sorta songs!!

BTW...any chance of you making it down to DeeCee on the first of March?! It would be a great opportunity to introduce you to kristinn, Angelwood, and the DeeCee FReepers then we could caravan down to Richmond fer a jam session!!

I checked out "Stars" in the MudMobile coming into work today, and while my voice ain't as smooth as Javert's, I'll have no problem hitting the low notes on that song!! Great JUSTICE Song, BTW...I love the original words!!

McAuliffe's NightmareIn the wake of the 2002 debacle and with the implementation of campaign-finance reform, Mr. McAuliffe's 2004 political problems have already begun to steamroll. On the all-important fund-raising front, those problems for the Democrats promise to be even more severe than in the past.
