I don't agree with the anti-war message, but it IS scary that Britain would be "investigating" people who merely say "hateful" things -- such as the guy who said hunters deserve as much rights as muslims or gays. That's "hate speech"? Scary.

"A racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person." Do they have affirmative action in Britain?

If Taki doesn't like obeying the UK's laws, maybe he should move elsewhere--if anyone is willing to admit a convicted felon...

I have a rule of thumb that whenever certain people take a position, I can't fo far wrong if I come down on the opposite side of the issue.
Justin Raimondo is one of those people, as are Pat Buchanan and most of the others writing for The American Conservative.

Lots of Western Euro countries have speech-code-like laws.

Bump to the top. Justin Raimondo may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this story is a must read.

Apparently it's against the law to be a racist a$$hole in England.
Additionally, Taki may have a wee problem with libel WRT some of his remarks.

Well, there was a thread here a few weeks ago in which a number of Freepers thought it was a good idea to bring back the Alien and Sedition acts. One of the most disturbing threads I've read on FR.
That said, Raimondo and Taki are idiots, and Taki strikes me as a typical Eurotrash A-hole, to boot.

the guy who said hunters deserve as much rights as muslims or gays. That's "hate speech"? In a nation without a constitution anything that disagrees with the current government can be hate speech.
The Brits depended on tradition, their "Unwritten Constitution". The new imigrants who have no understanding of why England has worked for a thousand years and the greedy politicians who don't care as long as they are elected have destroyed the entire basis of British Society.
I really think they will have to go through the cleansing fires of barbarism before they can recover. Great Britian may be the next Yugoslavia.

Just another example of the monstrous human rights abuses and human rights violations which go on in Britain, which is a signatory to various Human Rights Conventions.
Among the most frequent innocent victims of human rights abuses in Britain is the Muslim community.
Mosques and private residences are routinely ransacked by the brutal state security services, often aided by brutal paramilitary gangs of skinheads directly tied to the National Front and the BNP (British National Party) who advocate the expulsion of all Muslims and other immigrants from what they call "English soil". Since these brutal attacks by the British state security forces began, peace-loving Muslims have had their prayers frequently disturbed by these brutal stormtroopers, with the government actually banning Muslim clerics and religious teachers from their own mosques. The government even goes so far as to issue bans on Muslims for exercising their right of free speech, and their right of assembly, reminding many Americans of the horrors of British colonial tyranny. These violations of human rights are strictly enforced by British police surveillance stationed around mosques and Muslims' private residences in a direct provocation.
Such human rights violations are most frequently observed in those urban districts in England where Muslims make up a clear majority, often more than 90% of the population.

Somewhat ironic, since anti-Muslim speech is apparently a crime as well.

This is the biggest piece of horse excrement you've ever published, the product of an insane and irrational mind. The police are so paranoid about offending the Muslims that they cover their shoes and don't go into the prayer rooms to raid the Finsbury Park mosque. Hamza is allowed to run free for as long as he has - instead of dangling from the end of a rope for laughing at September 11th.
The BNP is a marginal party with only a few local council seats, at most. For you to extrapolate into this huge plot is to border on insanity of Lyndon LaRouche dimensions.
I thought you were a fool, Ichabod. I find out you're paranoid and insane to boot.

All this hate speech stuff makes me sick. There are lots of ugly views, and disgusting statements, but really ... it is not worth throwing out freedom of speech. And as you say, the hate speech definitions will grow and grow until it is anyone who doesn't disagree with the government.

WELL, I'VE HEARD IT ALL NOW.
Ok, I live in Ireland. But this is the FIRST TIME I've ever come across ANYONE linking the British National Front (pack of neanderthals that they are!!!) to the British State Security Services!!!
That's akin to sayin' Duyba is a buddy-boy with the KKK.
Are you NUTS?
Even the goddamn IRA haven't even tried to suggest that. And they've done their best to sully the name of the British police force (or at least the Royal Ulster Constabulary) in Ireland.
Get a grip man. Or get some professional help!!!
