I'm assuming McConnell will be there eventually, so the Republicans have 51 votes.
Zell Miller and Ben Nelson I assume will vote for cloture. 53. John Breaux will vote for it was well. 54. Dorgan, I think, said he won't be supporting the fillibuster. 55.
That leaves 5 to go . ..
Bayh's stance is a mystery.

Reid (D) is talking now opposing Estrada. His re-election chances is now in trouble in 04' if the Republicans can use his opposition to Estrada effectively.

I'm not a former/current nyer, but I agree with everything else you say, and I might add someone should ask him if he is anti-Hispanic, because I believe if the nominee were Jewish, he'd be the first to squawk anti-Semite.
Almost impossible to believe the left side of the Senate are such sorry SOBs--heard lardass Kennedy telling what the American people want re Iraq--I'd like to know from which union he got his info from.

Go Hatch Go

If it takes an idiot to perform a filibuster, Chuckie and his senate co-partner are definitely over qualified.
To: LdSentinal
Looks like I will have to take this one up as so as possible.

True..what was Reid's margin..? 200+ or so..he's got to be the #1 target of opportunity in 2004

Hatch making a point of how ridiculous it is to require that judicial nominees should have had judicial experience. I believe John Marshall, despite various other kinds of experience, had never been a judge before becoming chief justice of the Supreme Court.

Look at the Blue/Red map of the NY Election. Mrs. Billy Clintoon got a plurality in NEW YOOORRRRK CITY of more the 1.5 MILLION votes. The solialites of the New York City control the state wide elections!

The axis of evil now includes the U.S. Democratic Party!!!

Pataki is a worthless liberal!!! Do you not remember the "Pataki 5 Point Plan"? That illegal, socialist gun control is even stronger and more liberally written than the illegal Federal legislation it was supposed to mirror. Pataki will be no different than Schumer; he's another big government, anti-gun, pro-abortion liberal with aspirations of grandeur.
montag, are you in NY?? Schumer must be defeated.

Have the Dems referred to any actual position Estrada has taken on any actual issue, or is this just an extended mouth fart?

Penn is in there....Specter's pro-choice, so they would generally consider him "persuade-able". Bush has been working on him, though, and he seems to be coming along.

It saddens me to see such hatred towards the people of NY here on FRMe too. I'm a NYer and a conservative Republican (yes, in NY). I'm staying here fighting instead of giving in to the rats. I guess we and the California Freepers have an uphill battle.
