Yeah. . .but not a comfortable feeling to take off single-engine into a combat environment. Single-engine is an emergency condition.

The UK is a major investor ($2 billion I think) in the JSF program and so their needs were addressed during the design phase. Italy is also a big investor ($1.2 billion)in JSF, with manufacturing rights plus R and D.There are other interested parties as well.

In a coin toss, Lockheed Martin figured to win because defense is a core business, unlike Boeing.
