You know the answer to your question, so I will refrain for answering your absolute generalization.

Miami is a good example of this. Miami has prospered from Latin waves but some Anglos get aggravated at starting to feel like strangers in their own land. So, they all moved to Broward. Now they are all moving yet again. It's a cycle. Such is life.
The Old Florida Crackers complained when the Yankees from New York came to Miami. They, in turn, complained when the Cuban middle class moved en masse to Miami in the early 1960's. The first wave Cubans complained when the "Marielitos" showed up in Miami in 1980 and now the "Marielitos" are complaining about the "Indios" from Central America that are showing up in Miami.
Oh, I forgot. The Seminoles complained when the Old Florida Crackers showed up.
Nothing like 20 years and a bunch of newcomers to make a group "Old American". :-)
But, all kidding aside, no "Old American" or "Recent American" should have to put up with anybody who is not legal.

No, I don't. That's why I was asking you? Why did you post this?
"Sorry, I don't buy it. A "respectable" area of "hard-working" black folks?"
Why did you say that? Why did you put "respectable" and "hardworking" in quotations like that? And why don't you "buy" it?
I don't understand why you are accusing me of an "absolute generalization". So why don't you answer the question, because I don't know what you're going to say.

You don't believe there are any respectable areas of hardworking black folks? Youre setting up a strawman argument.
The subject of the article is a particular neighborhood in California, and by extension, certain black neighborhoods that have been taken over by Hispanic immigrants.
Your question deals with all the black neighborhoods of the universe, therefore not relevant to the article.
Of course, there are middle class neighborhoods that are not run down, but those are not being taken over by Hispanics.

It is an odd construct ('our traditions & culture), isn't it? Like you, I wondered if he was waxing on about his family's lengthy history of creating cop-killing rap music.
The black person in America today has no idea where their ancestors hailed from on that very large continent. And traditions/culture of one tribe in Africa varies wildly to another. And, of course, even if a black man/woman in this country could trace his/herself to one region, visiting those there would be problematic. They would be looked upon with great distrust...and in certain remote places, be in grave danger.

How's about the time-honored tradition of not keeping friggin' chickens in yer front yard...That is a curiosity to many Mexicans as well. At least the ones that are here legally and have been here a few generations. Like my sweet "pocho" and his "pocho" parents. They don't get the chicken thing OR the endless Virgin Mary murals.

Yes, Terry has been The Voice crying in the Wilderness to his On-Auto-Pilot-Democrat-Lever-Pulling-Response Community for years.
But no one in the RNC would listen. The Party of Abolition missed their Golden Opportunity to pick up African- Amercan votes by a sin of omission: simply turning a blind eye to illegal immigration.
Now Boogaloo Waters and her ilk in LA have both the illegal alien vote (illegally, of course) and the black vote! Illegal Aliens = Cheap Votes for the Rats; Cheap Labor for the Republicans.

If I have a choice between reparations and chickens, I'll take the chickens, as long as their owners are here legally.

Ethnic changes which do not affect property values or crime are of much less consequence other than perhaps as an irritant culturally or language-wise. Miami is a good example of this. Miami has prospered from Latin waves but some Anglos get aggravated at starting to feel like strangers in their own land. So, they all moved to Broward. Now they are all moving yet again. It's a cycle.
DG: Hempstead went from being all white to ALL black. It got so bad that my father, my sister and I were the only white people on the block after the white families moved out. Sad. Now it seems as if Hempstead is getting to be a nice neighborhood again because more hispanics and white families are beginning to move back in and the neigborhood is looking great. I am fortunate to live on the border of Uniondale where it's more quiet. Even though we have a lot of illegal immigrants, it's still better than Hempstead's old reputation of being a haven of black crime and poverty.

Read #126.
You're very good at quoting out of context

Oh no I'm not! No. 126 was not to me. I quoted your direct statement made to me by you.
So, to take a phrase from you, "I don't buy it."
Don't sweat it. I hold nothing against you. It's just refreshing to know where you stand with people, that's all.

Tis possible. Then again, old age may be setting in on me early. I'm not as long off the tee now-a-days, ya know? 310 sucks when it used to be 355. ;-)

Well, it looks like a sheethead...
...and it quacks like a sheethead...
...and FR's sheethead season is year-round, no tags required, no limit...
...so I say "like, y'know, weapons free, totally, dOOd..."

You did not quote the my whole answer to you, because it was obvious I was addressing a particular neighborhood in California.
Then you ping people who will only see a sentence out of context in their comments' window.
Nice touch.
I also like to know where I stand with people.
