QUOTE OF THE DAY: The same Creator who names the stars also knows the names of the seven souls we mourn today. The crew of the shuttle Columbia did not return safely to Earth; yet we can pray that all are safely home.

Thank you, Rintense. Father, help us deal with this sorrow. God bless President Bush and this nation as we face another moment of grief. When I think the tears have dried, they start again.

rintense,
After the President's speech, he briefly left the lecturn then came back. I was watching CNN at the time, and the President's return took the anchor by surprise. CNN cut away, and I quickly checked the other stations. All had cut away. Did anyone get to see the President after he returned to the lecturn? Did he say anything more? Did he answer questions? Someone suggested (can't remember who) that he had to compose himself before facing the cameras again. Does anyone know?

Lord, guard and guide the men who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky,
Be with them always in the air,
In dark'ning storms or sunlight fair.
O, Hear us when we lift our prayer,
For those in peril in the air.

these seven souls we mourn today as they
slipped the surly bonds of earth
to touch the face of God.

These photos of the president remind me on ones of Lincoln when he was getting news of casualties of the Civil War.

We Will Not See Earth Again

We Are Home
- 2/1/03 -

ON ANOTHER'S SORROW

Can I see another's woe,
And not be in sorrow too?
Can I see another's grief,
And not seek for kind relief?

Can I see a falling tear,
And not feel my sorrow's share?
Can a father see his child
Weep, nor be with sorrow filled?

Can a mother sit and hear
An infant groan, an infant fear?
No, no! never can it be!
Never, never can it be!

And can He who smiles on all
Hear the wren with sorrows small,
Hear the small bird's grief and care,
Hear the woes that infants bear -

And not sit beside the nest,
Pouring pity in their breast,
And not sit the cradle near,
Weeping tear on infant's tear?

And not sit both night and day,
Wiping all our tears away?
O no! never can it be!
Never, never can it be!

He doth give His joy to all:
He becomes an infant small,
He becomes a man of woe,
He doth feel the sorrow too.

Think not thou canst sigh a sigh,
And thy Maker is not by:
Think not thou canst weep a tear,
And thy Maker is not near.

O He gives to us His joy,
That our grief He may destroy:
Till our grief is fled and gone
He doth sit by us and moan.

--William Blake

Thank you Rintense, for posting The Dose on this sad day. Through your sorrow it seems to me that you reach out to comfort us here on the Dose, even through your recovery from sugery, may God bless you. (I did not log on until Sunday morning, so did not post last night.)

I do not post often, I mostly lurk, but the Dose is somewhere I come to every day that gives me hope and proved to me, that there are good and honest, patriotic people who love our country, our President, and each other.

To all, those on the Dose, I thank you as well.

To our President, I say:

"Good Sir, you are at all times, a noble warrior, a humble, God fearing man, and the answer to a grateful nation.

We are so thankful to the Lord, for your leadership, and for gracing us with the boundless love you have for your country.

The greatest of us will fall on our knees with worry and fatigue, and the finest steel must first go through fire.

Gather to you the love and prayers of your grateful nation, and lift your eyes to the Lord, for it is he who made you our leader, and he shall not fail you, weary though you may be.

From Isaiah:

Fear not: for I have redeemed thee: I have called thee by thy name: thou art mine.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee;
When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; Neither shall the flame kindle upon thee...

Since thou have been precious in my sight, and honorable, and I have loved thee..

Fear not, for I am with thee."

We are here for you..God Bless you and keep you close.

Ms. B

The sadness in his eyes is heartbreaking. His words were perfect. Thank you, Lord, for this wonderful man.
