It's funny that all the liberal history and political science professors have never learned this lesson.

It's funny that all the liberal history and political science professors have never learned this lesson. They don't care about history or anything else. They just don't want Bush to achieve success and win reelection.

The Liberal Party in 1935 demanded "clear proof" of a need for rearmament against the Nazis, much as many in politics and the media today are demanding "clear proof" of a need to act against Saddam Hussein.......Posted Article It's funny that all the liberal history and political science professors have never learned this lesson........patriciaruth
It's not so much funny as it is tragic. The failure in 1935 to enforce the military restrictions imposed upon Germany by the Treaty of Versailles resulted in 40 million deaths in the European Theater in 1939-1945.
As my namesake, Polybius, wrote in the Second Century before Christ,
"......there are two ways by which all men may reform themselves, either by learning from their own errors or from those of others; the former makes a more striking demonstration, the latter a less painful one."

I guess this is the first time that I've ever disagreed with Thomas Sowell, who I hold in the highest esteem. I just don't see the parallel between Hitler and Saddam (it's a matter of degree), and I don't see the difference between Saddam and Castro.

A little side note: Germany was forbidden to have airplanes so used sailplanes/gliders to train a secret airforce. These young glider pilots were later upgraded into military pilots in a very short process.
