She's a woman who rose to be one of the most powerful women giving people in America a service they wanted.

I rather admire Martha. Would even more so if her politics matched her personal behavior.

Interesting that one of the tabloids reported months ago that Stewart asked Hillary for help.

You are missing the point
She is the tipper not the tipee
If YOU own a company and know bad news is coming out that will drive the stock down and then proceed to call all your friends and tell them to dump the stock before that news is made available to the general public YOU will be heading for the slammer

The word "Proper" is not in Hitlery's vocabulary. Even if it was, she would tell you that it's meaning does not apply to her.

Makes one wonder if these two have spent a lot of quality time between the sheets with each other!

Maybe so, but when did she and Hilary become buddies?

I will repeat something I posted on a different thread yesterday on the subject of Martha Stewart.

Way back on June 14 when the story was breaking, the NY Post stationed a reporter outside the gates of Martha's home and followed her to her office when she left the premises.

The article was titled: "Anguished Martha Can't Believe This Is Happening"

I checked yesterday and the article is archived and you have to pay to read the whole thing. Further, the thread based on this June article was pulled--and I have no idea why.

Here's the point.

While the reporter remained stationed outside of Martha's office building way back in June, just as the story is breaking, who do you suppose shows up at the office?

Bill Clinton

My post on the pulled thread was as follows:

Well, we couldn't read the name "Ken Lay" without being told he was a big Bush supporter and "close friend" (right). You'd think that it would be pointed out that Martha is very close to x42. I find it very interesting, indeed, that she received a visit from him yesterday. Had he a hand it getting this company on the "fast track"??

Miss Marple,

Back on June 15 there was a thread based on a NY Post article as described in my post #69 here.

I looked it up yesterday and the thread has been deleted, but I still have the comment I had posted. What doesn't show in this cut and paste is that I directed my comment to you. I wonder what your comment stated--if it has any part of the now archived at NY Post, deleted here at FR article that refers to Bill Clinton appearing at Martha's office right after it came out that she was under investigation.

I know! You have a mountain of stuff--but if you ever get a chance you might like to look through your June 15 posts.

Well, nobody in my family has that I know of. I'm descended from Vikings so who KNOWS what those little devils were up to all over Europe. I've never seen a crime family like the Clintons and cronies. And the worst part of it is, they have no shame! Doesn't bother them any. What a hoot.

Martha Stewart is not scum.

Well, she's not for being a successful businesswoman. She is for being a big Lefty donor (ergo the call from Sen. Clinton).

Two peas in a pod.

Let's be fair to Martha. She made it on her own. She created her own business empire. The only thing that Hillary has ever done is to latch onto a man with ambition and ride his coat tails.

I'm sorry, but you're wrong on this one. She WAS the tippee, not the tipper. This was for the Company InClone, which her very good friend was the President. He tipped her off. Her stock went down when her troubles started mounting. That's my point. If my best friend told me to buy stock in his company (Which has happened to me), and then told me it was time to sell (Which he has), I'm going to do it. In my case, it wasn't as dramatic as the InClone deal falling apart, and it wasn't anything that made the stock plummet, but he felt bad that he told me in the first place to buy the stock. Put a human face on it.... You want to help a friend make a few bucks...but then it backfires and they're going to lose their asses. I think it's only human nature to let them know. Do you play the stock market?

How do you think this would have played..

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush was only making a phone call to a friend when he spoke to embattled CEO Ken Lee, the presidents's spokeswoman said Monday.

Ken Lee, in an interview with the New Yorker magazine, said he has received support from Bush as the oil remarketing king tries to fend off a federal probe into whether he traded on insider information when he sold shares in Enron.

In the article, Ken Lee says he has received encouragement from Bush, who has faced down a number of federal investigations.

"He was one of the first poeple to call me ... and very nicely say, 'You know, you just have to hang in there. It's the process,"' Ken Lee told the magazine.

Bush spokeswoman Karen Hughes would not characterize the phone conversation, or say whether the senator was supportive of Ken Lee.

Bush "made a phone call to a friend and has not commented on the ongoing investigation," said Hughes, who said the conversation was brief.

"I wouldn't say either way about the contents of the call," Hughes said.

One supports the other. Both are dishonest. That's enough for me to dislike them.
