I guess you figured out that my #26 should read 'competent defense attorney'.
I hate cases like this. A hair HERE, a blood trace THERE. Give me that stuff + some witnesses. Then I am totally comfortable with frying the
b@$+@rd.
I get the willies with the idea of life in prison or an appointment with the needle based on physical eveidence that could fit into a matchbox.
That being said, 85% of people murdered are killed by persons that they know. This was one of the doubts I had in Westerfield case, and one of the reasons that I believe LE is probably following the correct trail here.
BTW, I am now convinced that the Westerfield jury got it right; I was'nt sure enough in my own mind going into the deliberations and for a while afterwords. I have been in the few weeks.

What's this about the Super Bowl? Do you mean to say that Scott is going to be in San Diego for the Super Bowl?!!! If my spouse and (unborn) child had been missing for little over a month, I sure as heck wouldn't be on the golf course or going out to see any movies, let alone traveling to a major sports event. What a shallow, stupid, selfish guy. He should be pestering the media and cops to help find his beloved wife and be down at the Missing Persons center set up for Laci volunteering every day--not out on some golf course or heading to a football stadium. Man, for a guy whose wife just vanished a few weeks ago, his behavior is mighty cavalier and suspicious...

Posting your opinion of the Westerfield trial should be done in the Smokey backroom. We're not going to start mucking up these threads with that all over again.

And this...LA Peterson Search Called A Media Show
The man who helped Scott Peterson organize a search in Los Angeles is now questioning the motivation behind the effort.
Brad Saltzman, who manages the Red Lion Inn in Modesto, the site of the now closed Laci Peterson search center, said Thursday night his support for Scott Peterson has waned since last weekend's efforts in Westwood.

I went over there, but didn't get into the article you wanted me too.?
None the less, Scotts own father said he and Scott did not discuss the other woman and he hasn't asked him about it. From Mr. Patterson's lips to our ears.
So someone's not telling the truth, and it isn't me...:~)

Data From: Modesto Police Department
(AMW: January 4, 2003; January 25, 2003)
Additional Quirks:
1. She is currently 8-1/2 months pregnant
2. She was last seen wearing a white long-sleeve shirt and black pants
Story:
On December 24, 2002, at about 5:48 pm, the Modesto Police received a call stating that Laci Denise Peterson had not been seen since 9:30 am that day.
Scott Peterson says that his pregnant wife, Laci, planned to shop for dinner and walk their dog at East La Loma Park, also known as Dry Creek Park. Scott says he left home at 9:30 am and went to his office to do a few hours of work. He kept a 14-foot aluminum boat stored at his office and after working decided to hook it up and take a short fishing trip in the San Francisco Bay. He says he tried to call Laci from his cell phone during the day but could not reach her. When he arrived home later that afternoon, he found his dog in the back yard with the leash still attached. There was nothing unusual found in the house to indicate anything had happened. Laci's purse was in the house and her car was in the driveway. Scott and family members began searching the park and called the Modesto Police.
Modesto Police began a search of the park and the Dry Creek area. Over the next couple of weeks police used water rescue units, canines and equestrian teams to search in Modesto and neighboring counties. Police also conducted extensive searches near the Berkeley Marina and in the San Francisco Bay where Scott said he went fishing, but found nothing. Scott was able to provide police with a parking receipt from the Berkeley Marina, however it does not list entry or exit times.
Initially, both Laci and Scott's families insisted that Scott had no involvement in her disappearance. On January 15, 2003, Modesto Police met with Laci's family and informed them that Scott was having an affair with a woman who lives in the Fresno area. They showed the family a photo of Scott posing with the woman that was dated mid-December, a day that he told Laci he was away on a business trip. Laci's brother, Brent, says that Scott later admitted to this and other affairs. Laci's family cut off communication with Scott and they say he initially lied to them about the affair and possibly other things. They say that Scott's demeanor in the last couple of weeks has been unusual in that he has been playing golf, disappearing for lengthy periods of time, hired a defense attorney, has not been open with them, and met with a realtor about selling the house. Police have not named Scott a suspect.

Only the data on the AMW site is attributed to the police. They did not write the background report and I am not sure it is accurate.(At least I don't think that the police wrote the report) Where is the source for the assertation that Scott went to work on the day in question? I initially thought it came from the father and has only recently been circulating. Does anyone know if this info has been sourced outside of AMW? It is not really a journalist venue but more an independent entity seeking to help police solve crimes through media exposure. I don't ever recall SP's dad saying this. If he did SP's alibi grows stranger and stranger... The time element seems virtually impossible.

Thank you. John Walsh sometimes gets things abit off.
So the interesting part of this article was that we find out that Scott now says he went to the "office to do a few hours work" before he went fishing?! Wow. I guess that accounts for the "lapse in time" Mark Fuhrman was inquiring about?
He says he tried to call Laci during the day from his cell phone, but couldn't reach her. He also had said that he "forgot" his cell phone in his Truck while out on his boat
Still no mention in this article that Scott confessed to HIS side of the family he had a "girlfriend", unless I missed it?
Also, at the beginning of all this, Scott said that from the moment he walked in the front door, he knew something had happened to Laci. Now, if there were no indications of anything unusual happening in the house, HOW did he draw this conclusion so swiftly?
Oh, and John Walsh didn't mention that Laci's Cell Phone was in her purse, as was previously reported.
John Walsh isn't the only sourse of information on Laci's disappearance..

Are you asking me???
According to the info on AMW, it comes from the MODESTO POLICE...errr
To: iaf97
The new information about Scott going to the office for a few hours before he went fishing has not been widely reported.
How could we miss hearing this? ALL of us? Well, most of us anyway.

I listened to Scott's father one night with Rita Cosby and the reporter from the NE. I formed an opinion right then to filter whatever that father said as he flew off the handle and attacked the messenger (NE).

Not necessarily. A good defense lawyer would challenge the evidence, the collection methods, the lab analysis, and the technicians and cops who found it (MF) in an attempt to get it thrown out.
Is it Laci's bone matter?? Is it Laci's brain tissue?? Sure, but can they PROVE it?? Maybe, maybe not. Finding her body would certainly help, and or obtaining samples from her parents for matching markers.

I went over to websleuth's and this info appears to have come from AMW re office visit. I suppose that Walsh might be allowed more contact with LE's than others. I just don't think he checks sources like most journalists do. If this is true than Scott's fishing trip suddenly becomes spur of the moment not planned as originally reported. Also I noted last nite when Greta was talking to the Dad he mentioned talking to Scott on the phone I believe on the 24th. I wanted her to ask him re time and where Scott was when he talked to him ie car, office, or home. One other point has anyone questioned and/or reported any other telephone conversation's that Laci had with anyone after her mother at 8:30pm on the 23rd. Seems that there should have been some contact with someone or even reports of attempted calls with no answer. This timeline needs to get firmed up fast.

No problem..L,Town. :~)
Merovingian, they are discussing John Walsh's article you posted for us, on Websleuths.
It's coming as a surprise to them also.
Looks like either the Modesto Police Dept just left out that detail (and it IS true), or Walsh got some bad info?
Not questioning your credibility, and I apologize if I gave you that impression.
